Battleship Pretension is a podcast that represents the kind of conversations that film geeks have when they get together. There are strong opinions, in-jokes, obscure references, and wild tangents. And, since Tyler and David are two of the sharpest wits ever fused together, there are laughs aplenty.

Review and Insight you can Disagree with and Enjoy

If you enjoy discussing movies you love and hate but can't find the time to hook up with friends on a regular enough basis, then I recommend listening in on Tyler and David. The format is casual, combative and informative. Do they go off on tangents? Absolutely, but that is the fun of it. They know their stuff so you can learn a thing or two about films. Hop on board the Battleship.

My Favorite Podcast

This may just be personal taste, but I love the premise of tackling different themes, topics throughout the course of the show. The two hosts have amazing chemistry, bring slightly different viewpoints on film, over the course of listening to all of the podcasts in the back catalogue you really get to know their tastes, but also know them as people moreso than any other podcast I've heard. The one thing that could turn off new listeners is that 'pretentiousness' of the title, but for the most part as you can guess from the titles, podcast description it is very tongue in cheek, the guys realize that their are many listeners that probably know more about film than they do, but that it's their perspective, humor, chemistry that you're tuning in for. For that reason, if you don't love the first episode you listen to, I'd highly recommend sticking with it as the podcast will reward you in the long run. Oddly enough, I actually love the longer episodes as they're able to dig into the topic a little more, it's always even more fun when they have one of their regular guests on, like Josh Fadem, Pat Healy, or Jason Eaken.

Great Film Podcast!

A fun and insightful conversation between two clearly passionate cinephiles. Although not always the most focused podcast, in that they get into a lot of tangents often their tangential conversations provide further movie related knowledge and fun to my ears. Frankly I probably would enjoy listening to Tyler and David talk about anything but when they really get into a movie topic it doesn't get much better than that. Maybe not my favourite entertainment related podcast I would recommend this to anybody who enjoys listening to people who truly enjoys movies and wants to raise the discourse of movie criticism!
