Welcome to the sleepy town of Hawkshead, where not a whole lot is happening aside from the new medical facility that opened up just on the edge of town. But what goes on behind those closed doors? What secrets are being prodded that are best left alone? This is what Beyond the Abyss has to offer.
Right off the hop i was sucked right into this story and am loving it. Always a fan of the character introduction episodes, BTA does it right as they bring you backstory after backstory that lets you see into the daily lives of these wonderful characters. A medical researcher, a journalist, a mechanic who's side gig is medical lab rat, and a security officer/college student are dragged quickly into a world of shocking mysteries and even more shocking truths. The characters themselves are very fleshed out and feel quite believable as you are spun through this spooky tale by the GM Owen.
Owen brings you the town of Hawkshead that captures that sleepy small town feeling as people are just trying to get by and live for the weekend. The story itself does not hold back, dragging you right into a strange and mysterious setting as the introudction stories are kicked off and the cast slowly comes together. Strange morphic horrors, otherworldy watchers, and organizations set on harnassing the powers that should be left alone are quick to set their sights on these poor souls as they race to figure out what is going on and who is after them.
