Bad Readings, Bad Dreams, And Bad Past Life Memories

What do you do when you have a bad reading or have bad dreams? You can change them! Find out the easy fix in this episode of Breathe Love & Magic Maybe someone told you something that felt off in a reading that stuck in your head for years. The reader might have said, “You’ll never meet the right partner,” or “You’ll always struggle with money.” Gee, thanks for that notion. Argghhhh! Feeling lost in midlife? Register for the Free Midlife Magic Masterclass 3/20 @2pm ET or 3/21 @11am ET Let me know you choice of day in the message! Like a Pebble in Your Shoe Statements like that can lodge in the subconscious like a pebble in your shoe – so bothersome until you can remove it.  I recommend that’s what you do with a bad reading – replace it with something that’s supportive or positive. Years ago, this is one reason why I stopped getting casual readings, the kind where you’re just curious and want to hear what an intuitive person has to say. For me, that started to feel like giving my power away. I still ask a trusted friend for intuitive insight from time to time, but only about a specific situation where I truly want another perspective. Or I feel stuck and aren’t sure which way to go. Recent Reading Recently, I was interviewing a woman who does an interesting style of readings. I allowed her to use me as a guinea pig during the podcast recording so she could demonstrate her method. That was not my best idea. I asked what I thought was a simple question that wouldn’t get me into any trouble. How wrong I was. The experience inspired me to share this story because I want you to know how to handle something like this if it happens to you. I’m going to explain how to reset your energy and take your power back. And this same method can also help with bad dreams or even uncomfortable past life memories. Back in the 1990s I used to attend psychic fairs with friends. I was curious about metaphysical practices and fascinated by the people who lived and breathed this work. Plus, it was fun browsing books, crystals, and spiritual tools that were much harder to find back then. At One Psychic Fair At one fair I sat down for a reading and asked about my near future. The reader started describing a situation that immediately made me nervous. Before I knew it she was predicting that I would become ill in the coming months. I was currently healthy and had not asked anything about my health. I remember feeling furious that someone would say something like that so casually. My reaction wasn’t exactly graceful. I stood up, slammed my hands on the table, looked her in the eye, and said, “That was not helpful!” Then I walked away in a huff. Admittedly, not my finest moment. Thankfully I never became ill that spring, but the reading lingered in my mind for a while. At that time I didn’t know how to clear something like that out of my energy field. Fast forward to last week during that podcast interview. The woman I was speaking with seemed nice and good-hearted, but at one point she said something that made my jaw drop. She said you always need a bad element in a reading. That is definitely not true in my world. Helpful & Uplifting Readings When I do readings for clients, the goal is always clarity, compassion, and support. Even when something challenging appears, I talk about the lessons involved and what options or perspectives might help. A reading should leave someone feeling more empowered, not discouraged. As the recording continued, the direction of the reading she was giving me started to feel increasingly dismal. She tried to soften it when she noticed my facial expression, but the cat was already out of the bag so to speak. When we finished recording, I suddenly felt exhausted and strangely sad. I went to lie down on the couch and took a short nap. When I woke up I realized what had happened. That reading had left a heavy feeling hanging over me. First, Clear Your Energy The first thing to do after an encounter like that is clear your energy. I did a quick Reiki clearing and there are many ways to do this. You can smudge yourself, take a shower, wash your hands, or simply step outside for fresh air and sunshine. Then I remembered something incredibly helpful I learned years ago from Hawaiian shaman Serge Kahili King, and later encountered again in a book by Denise Linn. It’s a simple idea that changes the way you see situations like this. You are not stuck with someone else’s predictions. You have the power to change the outcome energetically. This same approach works in three situations: bad readings, disturbing dreams, and troubling past life memories. Here’s what I did. Change the Outcome I spent time imagining the outcome I actually wanted. For example, I pictured the perfect summer. Lots of sunshine. Temperatures in the low 80s and low humidity. Walking along the shoreline or sitting with my feet in the sand. In my mind I was reading a book, meditating, writing in my journal, laughing with friends, and soaking up the ocean air. It felt peaceful and joyful. That was the energy I wanted to create. If you’ve had a discouraging or bad reading, you can do something similar at home. Take out your deck of cards. Don’t perform a new reading. Instead, look through the deck and choose the cards that represent the outcome you truly want. Next arrange them as your ideal spread. This isn’t wishful thinking. This is directing energy. Magic isn’t about waving a wand and hoping for the best. It’s intention combined with focus and action. When you select the outcome you want and imagine it clearly, you begin aligning your thoughts and energy with that direction. Once you arrange the cards, you can take a picture of them, leave them out on your table, or revisit them whenever you want to reinforce the feeling. You’ve intentionally shifted the energy toward the outcome you desire. You are never stuck with someone else’s reading. My future is up to me. It’s in my hands. And so is yours! Change Bad Dreams This approach works with dreams as well. I once had a dream where a lion was staring at me in a threatening way. I woke up with my heart pounding and no idea what it meant. Later that day I thought about the dream and realized I had been feeling threatened in some area of my life. So I decided to revisit the dream in my imagination. I got on the couch, pictured the lion again in my mind, and waited to see what response came naturally. To my surprise, I roared at the lion. I became fierce and confronted it head-on. And in the vision, the lion backed away. It sounds funny now, but it completely shifted the energy of that dream. After all, it’s your dream. You can change it any way you like. You can do something similar with past life memories. in Denise Linn’s book Past Lives, Present Miracles,  describes guiding large groups of people to recall past lives and then helping them rewrite the ending of a troubling experience. The lessons have already been learned. But changing the ending can shift the emotional imprint you carry. In one memory I recalled being part of a group practicing magic in Venice during the 1400s. Someone tipped off the authorities and they burst in and executed everyone. I did a visualization about this ending to change it. What came to me was to invite the guards to join us in the magic rather than kill us. In the vision they laid down their weapons and participated in the magic! The energy of the experience changed completely. The Magic of Neuroscience Why does this work? Neuroscience offers an interesting explanation. When you vividly imagine something, your brain activates many of the same neural pathways it would if the event actually happened. And your brain cannot tell the difference between a created memory or a real one. Focusing on a new outcome creates and strengthens new neural pathways. You aren’t changing the historical event, but you are changing the emotional imprint it leaves in your system. And that shifts your energy. So if you ever receive a discouraging reading, had dreams or recalled an uncomfortable past life memory, remember this: No reader, no dream, and no memory has more authority over your life than your own consciousness. You have the power to choose the energy you want to create. Set your intention. Focus your thoughts on the outcome you prefer. Then take whatever actions support that direction. That’s magic. I Was Lucky My Grandmother Taught Me To Be A Healer

Imagine growing up in a world where energy was real, spirit was part of the conversation, and healing was something passed down through generations. That was my guest, Barbara Savin’s world. In this episode, Barbara shares the powerful influence of her two grandmothers and how they shaped the path she walks today. One was a natural healer. The other lived a life of service. Between the two of them, Barbara absorbed something rare – a deep knowing that life is more than what you can see. From Brooklyn to Spiritual Awakening Raised in Brooklyn, Barbara’s journey from highly sensitive child to certified hypnotherapist and spiritual life coach is layered, human, and surprisingly relatable. She didn’t just inherit mystical gifts. She had to wrestle with them. And that’s where it gets interesting. Barbara grew up in a time when anything spiritual was dismissed as “woo-woo.” Even with two spiritually attuned grandmothers, the outside world didn’t validate what she felt. Her own mother was skeptical and often dismissive of Barbara’s intuitive experiences, which created a deep inner conflict. Imagine being a sensitive child who feels everything and senses emotion in a room instantly, and then being told it’s not real. That tension stayed with her for years. She often felt caught between two worlds, the practical Brooklyn life around her and the invisible energetic world humming just beneath the surface. It wasn’t until her 30s, when her own health challenges brought her to a breaking point, that she stopped resisting what she already knew. Sometimes life nudges you. Sometimes it pushes. Her health crisis became a doorway. Returning to energy healing wasn’t just about improving her physical well-being. It required emotional, mental, and spiritual recalibration. She had to come home to herself. By reclaiming her intuitive gifts, she regained her health and stepped into her true purpose. And here’s the thing I love about Barbara’s story. It’s the unfolding of someone finally trusting what had always been there. Healing Amidst Trauma One of the most moving periods of her life came after 9/11. Her husband and son managed to escaped harm that day and the enormous relief and gratitude she felt pushed her into service. When invited to help with first responders she jumped at the chance. She worked in the Salvation Army tent on Staten Island, assisting first responders with their healing. Working with firefighters and others who were deeply traumatized changed her understanding of healing forever. Trauma doesn’t just live in the mind. It becomes embedded in the body and ripples through the nervous system. It lingers in the energy field and touches the spirit. You don’t just “get over” something like that. Healing trauma, she realized, is a return to safety on every level. Physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual. It requires presence and compassion, and simply can’t be rushed. Protect Your Energy Her work during that time cemented what she already sensed as a child. You are more than your physical body, and real healing must include the unseen layers of who you are. That brings us to something we both feel strongly about: protect your energy. Barbara credits her grandmother’s teachings about stepping into God’s light as foundational. It’s a simple but powerful image. You consciously surround yourself with light and set an intention that only love flows in and out. That’s a beautiful example of energetic hygiene. Just as you brush your teeth and care for your physical body, you must tend to your energetic well-being. Barbara emphasizes daily practices like meditation, gratitude, and clear boundaries. Her methods are grounded and practical. Part of this is to be discerning about who you spend time with. You can feel the difference between someone who lifts you and someone who drains you. Your body and your energy know. She encourages you to notice who feels expansive and who feels heavy? Maintaining healthy boundaries isn’t selfish. It’s emotionally intelligent and preserves your vitality. Positivity Secrets When I asked Barbara about her secrets to handling the decades  with grace and vibrancy, her answer wasn’t complicated. Gratitude and meditation anchor her. Every morning she takes time to reflect on what she’s thankful for. Even during seasons of challenge, including her husband’s health battles, she returns to presence and appreciation. Gratitude, in her view, isn’t a forced positive attitude. Instead, its about alignment and it  shifts your energy field. This is how you recalibrate your nervous system. A grateful heart  reminds you that life is still offering gifts, even when circumstances feel uncertain. That practice keeps her light strong. Embrace Your Spiritual Path Barbara’s journey is ultimately about listening to the inner voice that refuses to go away. The one that whispers when something looks good on paper but feels wrong in your body. The one that nudges you back toward your true path no matter how long you’ve ignored it. She chose to honor that voice, despite skepticism and convention. And in doing so, she built a life of fulfillment and service. There’s something comforting about that. No matter how far you wander, your path is still there. Waiting, patient, and unmoved. Get Barbara’s beautiful free meditation called “The Garden of Life,” which guides you through a gentle inner landscape of healing and self-discovery. It’s an invitation to reconnect with your own energy and remember that the answers you seek are not outside of you. I love Barbara’s message of accepting who you are, trusting your sensitivity, and honoring your intuitive gifts. You can always choose light and gratitude even after trauma. Her life is proof that when you embrace your spiritual nature and treat your energy with respect, you grow and find love, joy, and satisfaction. And if you’ve ever wondered whether your own intuitive nudges are real, whether that quiet inner knowing deserves your trust, Barbara’s story feels like a gentle but clear answer. Yes, it does. What Does The Divine Spark Really Mean?

Have you ever had a moment where, for a split second, you remembered who you really are? That’s the divine spark. Not your “to-do list self”, nor the roles you play, but the part of you that feels ancient, luminous, and plugged into everything? I just had one of those flashes, so let me tell you the story. The Divine Spark People use the word spark in all kinds of ways such as energy, life force, soul fire. Many meditations invite you to picture a divine spark in the heart. Recently I found myself wondering, where did that image even come from? Who started talking about the spark like that? Minutes later I flopped onto the couch, opened YouTube, and clicked a video from Ellie Dreams Down Under, who has a fabulous playlist on the Gnostic gospels. And what was she talking about? The Spark. What it means and how it shows up in the Gnostic texts. The timing made me laugh. (For more about Gospels, check out this episode about the Gospel of Mary -it’s about Mary Magdelene) When things line up like that, I take it as a wink from the Universe. For me, that’s a moment of plugging into something bigger than my personality. Sometimes those reminders are gentle, like a video. Other times they’re not subtle at all. A health crisis, an accident, a loss. Something cracks open ordinary life and there’s a fierce knowing, I am more than this physical form. Buried Wisdom You can trace the idea of a spark through many traditions, but today I want to focus on one text, the Gospel of Truth. It’s a mystical early Christian writing with a lot to say about forgetting, remembering, and that flash of recognition we’re calling the spark. This isn’t a sermon but an esoteric deep dive into what the spark means and how it might be moving in your life. The text was discovered in 1945 at Nag Hammadi in Egypt, part of a buried library of early Christian writings sealed in jars for centuries. It’s usually connected to the Valentinians, a 2nd century mystical Christian group who cared less about believing the right thing and more about remembering where you come from. When I first read it, I’ll be honest, some of the biblical language felt dense. Some of it made me roll my eyes. So I’m going to switch out modern words for what I consider the offensive words. I’ll explain as I go. Belief Vs. Knowing Belief is information you’ve been told. Gnosis, the word the Gnostics used, means inner knowing. It’s that moment when something wakes up and you think, “Oh. I know this. I’ve always known this.” One scholar sums it up like this, “I come from God, I share God’s essence, I will return to God.” That’s the heartbeat of this text. According to this story, humanity has fallen into ignorance and forgetfulness of the Divine Source. The gospel uses the word Father. I prefer Source or Universe. Ignorance is personified as Error. Error is described like a fog, even a nightmare we’re living inside. Then Christ appears. He’s not someone balancing a cosmic spreadsheet of sins, but a teacher and revealer. His role is to dissolve ignorance through direct knowing of Source. From this perspective, salvation isn’t about punishment. It’s about awakening and remembering where you came from and what’s real. That flash of, “Oh. I remember.” That’s the spark. It’s the instant your everyday personality glimpses the deeper self that has never been separated from the Divine. You could even think of intuition as one way the spark activates. That persistent inner knowing that recognizes truth when it hears it. Suffering and Liberation The text says ignorance is the mother of all evils. As a modern woman, you can imagine my reaction. But we need to remember this was written in an ancient patriarchal culture. So, I’ve switched out “gives birth” for what a word I prefer – “creating”. Now you can understand that the gospel says ignorance creates suffering and awakening creates liberation. When you forget who you are, fear and confusion step in. You start building your life around a mistaken identity. Gnosis isn’t trivial information. It’s a direct inner knowing of Source and of your own divine nature. Living in Fog Error refers to the fog. You can recognize it when you cling tightly to your roles such as mother, partner, caregiver, professional, helper. None of those are wrong. They’re beautiful. But when you believe that’s the entirety of who you are, the bigger picture disappears. The spark is the moment something inside you says, “This can’t be the whole story.” It feels expansive. A remembering that you are more than your résumé, more than your relationship status, and more than your current problems. Intuition tugs at your sleeve when you falsely shrink to fit those roles. It refuses to let you live only inside the fog and encourages you to remember the truth of who you are. Human beings carry a piece of the Divine, a spark that has fallen into the material world and forgotten its origin. That’s us. We didn’t fall because we were bad. We fell because we forget. You see versions of this story elsewhere. In Kabbalah there’s a teaching about a divine vessel filled with sparks of light. The vessel shatters, the sparks scatter, and each spark forgets it once belonged to a radiant whole. The Gospel of Truth says Christ reminds you that you are still that spark. You never stopped being it. While you’re here in a body, the deeper work is remembering your true essence as divine presence. That’s what the Gnostics refer to as liberation. Most of us have had at least one moment like that. Something cracks open and you realize you’re more than your physical form. Fear and Misinformation Error is described almost like a hostile force built out of misinformation, which feels very modern. We’re not strangers to misinformation – just think about the nonsense you see in social media. The text says once truth appears, Error is exposed as hollow. It also talks about fear and terror come from ignorance. If you’re a midlife woman, you’re already familiar with how you start to ignore fear based scripts like: If they don’t like me, I won’t be safe. If I’m alone, I’m a failure. If I disappoint someone, I’ll lose everything. At some point something in you says, “That is not true.” You drop those scripts not because someone convinced you, but because you feel their falseness in your body. In this framework, ignorance of your own divinity allowed those fears to be in charge earlier in life. The spark is your moment of sanity. The flash where you realize you don’t have to live under those old stories anymore. That’s liberation. Modern Reflection Some modern thinkers explore similar ideas from a different angle. In The Divine Spark, an anthology edited by Graham Hancock, several writers suggest psychedelics may temporarily dissolve the brain’s filter, allowing people to experience unity consciousness. They use different language, but are talking about the same idea. The fog thins and remembering happens, this time through psychedelic journeys. I’m not suggesting you do plant medicine, though I know people who have had powerful insights through it. I’m simply pointing out that this question of remembering is still being explored two thousand years later. The Gospel of Truth says humanity fell into ignorance and fear. Christ appeared as a messenger of joy and remembrance, calling you back to who you’ve always been. Whether you believe in Christ or not, the idea is beautiful. The spark is the part of you that recognizes that truth instantly. As a spiritual framework, remembering your own divine nature resonates with me. Not in a grandiose way, but in a calming, grounded way. You are part of the Universe. Which means you are not separate from anything. When I guide meditations and invite you to expand your energy field until you blend into everything around you, this is what you’re touching. That sense of oneness. Some describe it as agape, universal love, a steady belonging. There’s something powerful about exploring this in your ordinary life, not as theology but as lived experience. That’s where gnosis begins. Right in the middle of your actual life. The post What Does The Divine Spark Really Mean? appeared first on Intuitive Edge.

Is February’s Astrology Causing You To Panic?

February has been so crazy! With this annular solar eclipse, it feels like all hell is breaking loose. Here’s what’s happening astrologically. Is Everyone Panicking? My phone has been busy with texts, voice mails and calls where friends and clients are panicking and some wanted to run something by me. It’s not light stuff. It’s relationship strain, career panic, health worries, friendship fractures, spiritual doubt, or tech meltdowns. What the heck is happening? I thought this was going to be a good year with movement and the power to create? What’s fascinating is that the people reaching out are not normally dramatic. They tend to be savvy women who meditate, journal, regulate, and reflect. They usually handle life relatively easily. And yet this month, everyone’s nervous system is on fire. Let’s zoom out and take the wise-woman view which I sometimes call the 100-foot perspective. When you understand the energy, you stop personalizing it, and that alone can calm you down First let me say, don’t worry, the sky is not falling. But the astrology is wild and crazy. What is An Annular Solar Eclipse? February 17th brought an annular solar eclipse in Aquarius, known as the “ring of fire.” In this type of eclipse, the Moon doesn’t completely block the Sun. The center is obscured, but a ring of light burns around the edges. A total eclipse feels like a blackout and reset. But, this is different. The core is hidden, while the edges are illuminated. You may not see the full picture or answer yet, but the pressure is lighting up what’s out of alignment and not working. Aquarius governs community, technology, collective systems, online spaces, innovation, and the nervous system. It’s about the group, and also the rebel who stands apart from it. Square with Uranus This is beyond my pay grade when it comes to astrology, but the eclipse forms a square to Uranus. That’s the planet of shocks, disruption, sudden change, and liberation through chaos. In astrology, a square creates tension and it pushes and exposes what isn’t working. Now we have an Aquarian eclipse about collective structures and identity, under pressure from Uranus, which breaks what’s rigid and outdated. That alone explains a lot. So, friendships may be strained, you might have tech glitches, and online spaces could seem volatile. And, you may have a  strong sense that “I cannot keep doing this the same way.” Spiritually, think of it this way – the annular solar eclipse opens a portal, and Uranus is the lightning bolt shoving you through instead of letting you tiptoe at your own pace. No wonder everyone feels wired. Year of the Fire Horse But that’s not all. In the Chinese zodiac, the 17th marked the start of the Fire Horse year. Fire Horse energy is bold, restless, fast-moving, impulsive, and freedom-driven. It does not like feeling trapped and pushes for action. That layers impulsive Fire Horse energy on top of an Aquarian eclipse that demands reinvention. And again, we’re still not done. Saturn and Neptune Around February 20, Saturn and Neptune meet at zero degrees Aries, which is the very beginning of the zodiac. Think of it as the cosmic starting line. Saturn represents structure, responsibility, and reality. Neptune represents dreams, spirituality, illusion, and dissolution. When they come together, illusions dissolve and dreams get tested. And this is happening in Aries, the sign of identity, initiation, and self-definition. So if you’ve been thinking, “Who am I now?” or “What do I even believe?” or “Why doesn’t my old coping strategy work?” you’re not losing it. This is a deep archetypal reset. It can feel like the old container cracked, and the new one hasn’t been built yet. And this is on top of that annular solar eclipse. Why This Feels Like a Crisis When I look at the conversations I’ve had, there’s a pattern. It’s not random chaos, but more like a threshold of energy. In other words, there’s an energy shift on the horizon. The Aquarius eclipse with Uranus activation is shaking collective and social structures. People are realizing they’ve over-given to groups and stayed in communities that drain them. People are waking up to reaalize they built businesses around systems that don’t fit anymore, or curated identities that now feel warong or false. There may be a strong sense that insists, “I can’t keep being this version of myself” that’s running through everything. Discernment and Wisdom Then, Saturn and Neptune in Aries step in and ask, “If not that…then who are you?” It’s too much! Let me explain this last piece. Neptune dissolves certainty while Saturn demands accountability. Spiritual bypassing won’t work now. Neither will shifting into fantasy or hiding by over-working. And you can’t rescue everyone either. Yet, Fire Horse energy insists that you do something! That’s why people feel tempted to quit their job, leave the relationship, and burn bridges. Or you might want to make a giant leap to somewhere else. Some leaps will be aligned with your highest good, but many will be simply reactive. That’s why discernment is everything right now. Be wise with your choices. The Nervous System Factor Eclipse season is always trying, especially teh annular solar eclipse. Aquarius and Uranus both connect to the nervous system. When Uranus is activated, people feel wired, restless, and jittery. Sleep can get disrupted and you’re likely mentally overstimulated. Plus, your old coping mechanisms stopped working. Yikes! Then Neptune makes things feel foggy and emotionally porous. So, there’s this very strange combination of high alert and low clarity. which explains why you might feel like something big is happening, but you don’t know what it is or how to handle it. Yup, that’s eclipse energy. Eclipses obscure before they reveal. With an annular eclipse, the center is blocked while the edges glow. You can’t see the core answer yet, but the misalignments are lit up. The Spiritual Opportunity The Aquarian eclipse asks for a reset in your relationship with community and the future. What are you actually trying to create? Saturn and Neptune ask whether your dream is real enough to stand on. Aries demands to know who you are when everything external is stripped away. Fire Horse asks what you’re willing to risk for freedom. Of course all of this can feel terribly destabilizing! Any identity shift triggers the ego’s alarm system. OK, this could help a bit. You do not need to reinvent yourself overnight. Take time to refine your spiritual identity and distinguishing fantasy from your genuine intuition. What Can You Do? Your very first step is to regulate your nervous system before analyzing or doing anything. Before trying to figure anything out, be sure to calm your system and steady your body. 1. Calm the nervous system. Extend your exhale longer than your inhale. Hum for 3-minutes. Walk outside without your phone. Eat warm, simple food slowly. Reduce scrolling and screen time. Put limits on how much collective drama you consume. 2. Assess your communities. Notice which conversations leave you wired or resentful. Where do you feel obligated instead of connected? Tihs powerful reset does not require any dramatic exits. Sometimes just  pulling back where you’ve been over-giving will do the trick. 3. Clear your energy. Before making big decisions, be sure to clear your energy field. You can smudge, take a detox bath, get some energy work.  Then, decide the roles you’re done with like the fixer, the peacemaker, the one who holds it all together. Consciously release what roles no longer serve you. 4. Get specific about what you want. Think about what you want. Do you want to collaborate or have a partnership? What kind of creative risk are you willing to take? What changes will you make to improve how you approach life and work? The good news is that fire energy when focused, is transformative. But when that same energy is scattered, it can burn everything. 5. Limit venting. This might surprise you but while venting can be good, you can’t let it go on too long. Go ahead and vent for 20-minutes, then take one grounding action. This way, you don’t risk causing yourself to spiral down any further. Small, steady choices are far better than panic-fueled leaps. If You’re Steady Now, Know This If right now you aren’t feeling all this craziness, you might be like me. I’m calm as long as the storm isn’t mine. Maybe you digest change faster than others. Yet, if everyone is calling you to talk things over, you cannot save everyone. Take a break and turn off your phone. Drink tea or read a book. Take a walk or a nap. Let yourself reset before showing up for others, so you don’t allow yourself to get drained. I got zapped when everyone called the same day! Crossing a Threshold February is a threshold month, which right now feels unstable because you’re between identities. You are at a turning point, along with the entire collective. The best thing you can do is to slow down your decisions. Protect your attention and strengthen your body. Use the fire consciously and take your time. When the astrology is this crazy like this, become quiet and watchful. Listen more carefully to what is actually true for you. All your inner knowing to guide you through this rough patch. February is revealing what no longer fits. That revelation may be uncomfortable, but it is helpful to move you forward for your highest good. In the long run, this annular solar eclipse and all the other planetary alignments are deeply supportive of helping you create the life you are here to live and enjoy. How My Intuition Kept Me Safe and Other Stories

Has your intuition ever kept you out of harm’s way? Mine did last week. And it reminded me how powerful our inner wisdom really is. The Power of Intuition and Mindset Shifts Today, I want to share two recent experiences. One is about a powerful mindset shift that surprised me. The other is about an intuitive message that quite possibly kept me from being injured. Both are examples of what I call Midlife Magic. Using energy, mindset, spiritual tools, and intuition to move through life with awareness and choice. There are certainly days when things don’t go my way. I’m not floating through life pretending everything is perfect. But even on hard days, I consciously choose how I respond. I process what I feel, and then I look for a perspective that supports me instead of drains me. That’s not spiritual bypassing. It’s intentional living. Midlife Magic is available to anyone who chooses it. And midlife, by the way, is whatever age you decide it is. You’re in charge of that. One of the gifts of this stage of life is wisdom. You’ve lived long enough to recognize patterns. You’ve made mistakes and learned from them. That wisdom shows up in small moments, in your ability to pause, to choose differently, to listen inward before reacting. And that’s where today’s first story begins. A Dubious Compliment Last week I received a LinkedIn message from a man I don’t know. He told me my astonishing smile brightened his entire day. Oh, I’m sure it did. If you’ve been online longer than five minutes, you know the pattern. Flattery. Vague admiration. A setup for something questionable. There were so many ways I could have reacted. I could have been annoyed. Disgusted. I could have reported him. I could have spiraled into irritation and let it affect my entire mood. Instead, I paused. And in that pause, I noticed something important. I didn’t actually want to experience any of those reactions. Yes, they were understandable. But I had another option. A thought popped into my head that felt lighter and more empowering. What if I just take the compliment as if it came from the Universe instead of from him? Not the motive. Not the person. Just the compliment. I deleted the message. But before I did, I allowed myself to imagine that my presence, my energy, my smile could brighten someone’s day. Whether he meant it sincerely was irrelevant. I chose to let that part be true for me. That’s Midlife Magic. Choose Where Your Energy Goes This isn’t about ignoring your feelings. First you feel and acknowledge them. Then you decide where your energy goes. This is a mindset shift. I didn’t need to analyze his intention or let irritation hijack my nervous system. I decided to focus on the version of me who moves through the world with ease and sparkle instead of armor and suspicion. And that choice changed how I felt. We all know how easy it is to spiral downward. One moment of yuck can drain your energy. Then you have to recover and that takes time and effort. But when you practice shifting perspective, you build a different pattern. Interestingly, research supports this. Studies from the National Institutes of Health show that happiness isn’t something that randomly appears. It’s shaped by what we repeatedly focus on and value. When you linger on a good moment, appreciate something small, or engage in something meaningful, you’re reinforcing neural pathways that make it easier to notice what’s working. Over time, those tiny choices train your brain to default toward steadiness rather than stress. And here’s the key: intuition becomes easier to hear when your nervous system feels safe and resourced. When you aren’t constantly frazzled, your inner voice gets clearer. Be Open, But Discerning A friend told me a story that beautifully illustrates this idea. Her nephew once saw a woman on Instagram he found attractive. He sent her a direct message that simply said, “What’s up?” Yes. That was it. The woman responded with, “Do I know you?” They started chatting and now they are happily married. I’m not suggesting you respond to every random message. Not at all. Discernment matters and so does safety. Yet, sometimes opportunity arrives in unexpected packaging. The lesson isn’t to always engage. It’s that you get to CHOOSE. You can stay open without abandoning your wisdom. You can be discerning without being closed. Where in your life could you be just a little more open? What has shown up recently that rubbed you the wrong way at first glance? And is there a silver lining you could take while leaving the rest behind? You don’t have to force positivity. You simply get to decide what something means to you. That’s real wisdom and power. Now let me share the story about how my intuition kept me safe. Intuitive Messages There’s a door in my house that leads from the family room to the garage. The locking mechanism has been slightly off for months, so the door has to be slammed to close properly. One freezing morning, after slamming it on my way out, I heard a calm inner voice say, “Look up.” There was no panic or fear. Just a quiet suggestion. So I turned around and looked up. Above the door hangs a large, heavy horseshoe, one of my husband’s blacksmith treasures. The two nails holding it in place were sticking out nearly an inch. It was hanging at an angle and could easily have fallen on one of us. If I hadn’t looked up, it very well might have. I immediately felt gratitude and said “Thank you” to the sender of that message. Later, my husband rehung it more securely. The crisis was averted. That calm inner message is what intuition often feels like for me. Not dramatic or loud. Just clear. This wasn’t the first time. Years ago, I heard an inner nudge to tell a barking dog, “I love you.” It sounded ridiculous. I almost ignored it. But I said it anyway. The dog stopped barking and never barked at me again. Over time, I’ve noticed patterns like this. Warnings about people. Guidance about jobs. Alerts about small dangers like a candle rolling out of its holder and burning the table. Ignoring Intuition Has Consequences When I was younger, I ignored these intuitive nudges and suffered the consequences. Now I don’t. That’s part of the wisdom that comes with midlife. You recognize patterns and trust your track record. Then, you pay attention to the information received. And that deep well of inner knowing is always available. Isn’t it time you accessed your inner wisdom and magic more deliberately?People who rely on their intuition have many advantages in life. Start by setting an intention to notice your intuition.  Then keep an evidence journal. Write down the nudges you followed, the ones you ignored, and the outcomes. Pay attention to the feelings in your body. Tracking the evidence builds self-trust. It makes intuition feel real and reliable rather than vague or imaginary. Over time, those whispers stop feeling questionable and start feeling trustworthy. That’s Midlife Magic. And the best news is that it’s already inside you! The Akashic Records – Get Ready for Deep Truth

Do you wonder about your past lives and how they might be impacting your life today? That’s what the Akashic Records are all about and my guest, Mary Madeiras explains everything beautifully. Mary is an Advanced Akashic Records Practitioner, author, and three-time Emmy award-winning television director. Yes, that combination is as interesting as it sounds. Her background provides a rare way of translating big spiritual ideas into language that makes sense. What Are the Akashic Records? Mary explains the Akashic Records in a way that people immediately get. They’re not some distant cosmic filing system reserved for mystics. The Records are a source of insight connected to your soul and higher awareness. Everything you have done in the past, are doing today, and possibly may do in the future can be found in one place. Don’t go to the Akashic Records to collect past-life trivia or dramatic stories to entertain yourself. This information or resource is meant for understanding patterns, gaining clarity on issues happening now, and most of all, remembering who you are. What surprises many people is how practical working with the Records can be. Clear answers are often found about questions regarding relationships, work, creativity, or your direction in life. These are all ideal queries for the Akashic Library. For Mary, accessing the Records feels less like a solemn ritual. Her experience shows up more like stepping into a curious, open conversation with a wiser part of herself. She’s encountered many wonderful revelations for her clients as well. How the Records Appear People often expect the Akashic Records to appear as a grand inner vision. You might see an ancient massive library filled with an endless sea of books. That image works beautifully for me and many others. However, Mary’s experience is very different. In fact, she doesn’t see a library at all. Instead, the information she receives comes through as a strong sense of knowing. Mary calls these impressions quantum visuals, meaning they aren’t pictures so much as complete ideas that arrive fully formed. Imagine a block of information downloading to your intuitive brain. Officially, this is called claircognizance or knowing. Mary doesn’t access her imagination or memory. The knowledge appears clear and direct in her mind, like it was brought there all at once. Over time, Mary learned to trust her intuition. She uses all of the “clairs” including listening, sensing, feeling, and knowing. This broader intuitive process allows the records to communicate in whatever way works best for each practitioner. It’s a relief for many people to hear that there’s no single right way to work with the Akashic. You don’t need dramatic inner movies or to hear voices to do this intuitive work. The message always matters more than the method of delivery. Past Lives Without the Drama The Akashic Records can reveal past lives, but not always the way you might expect. These stories aren’t about the details of a life, but more about context. Past-life information tends to surface when it helps explain something puzzling that’s happening now. Clients can learn about roles they once held, themes that keep repeating, or relationships that feel strangely familiar. I asked Mary if it was like the soap operas and we laughed! However, the valuable insights aren’t in the story itself. The information helps people understand their current choices, fears, and strengths. When viewed this way, past lives stop feeling abstract or like a curiosity. Your previous incarnations become a tool for insight, healing, and personal growth. Get the Ego Out of the Way One of the most important parts of Mary’s work is learning how to step aside mentally and emotionally. She does this by consciously setting her ego aside before opening the records. Imagine that she tells her ego to take a seat in the corner and be quiet. This matters because opinions, assumptions, and personal filters can easily distort intuitive information. By releasing the need to interpret or judge what comes through, Mary allows the guidance to remain clear. She becomes temporarily incapable of having an opinion during sessions, which is exactly what makes the information so valuable for clients. Fascinating Past Life Stories Some of the most memorable moments in Mary’s work come from retelling clues from the Records. One client who is an artist, had visited France and would always cry as she was leaving. She couldn’t understand what this was about. Through the Records, Mary discovered a past life in which the client had been apprenticed to a lesser-known painter, who she worked for and then married. She would finish his work for him as part of her job. What made the experience powerful was that it tied her travel to France with being an artist in this life. After doing some research, she figured out which painter she’d been married to. The Akashic reminded her of something old and familiar and connected them to make more sense. The Records Are Within One of Mary’s core teachings is that the Akashic Records are within you. You’re not separate from them, and the information isn’t hidden behind spiritual barriers. Turns out all of this data is part of your own energetic makeup. Across cultures and time periods, different traditions have pointed to this same idea. Edgar Cayce spoke about the records. The Bible refer to a Book of Life. Modern physics talks about fields of information and possibility. These are different languages, but all the same concept. Everything is connected, and your lessons are never truly lost. When you see the Akashic Records this way, they stop feeling mysterious or unreachable. They become something you can trust and access in your own way. A Lighter Way As our conversation came to a close, Mary shared a message that felt especially important and reassuring. Despite how chaotic the world seems right now, you are likely doing better than you think. There’s a tendency to believe you need fixing or that you are missing something essential. The records consistently suggest otherwise. Mary encourages people to notice what brings ease and enjoyment into their daily lives. Small moments of pleasure matter. Laughter matters. Feeling connected matters as well as doing what you love. These aren’t distractions from spiritual growth – they’re a big part of it! Live With Curiosity and Trust live with curiosity and trust The purpose of exploring the Akashic Records is to better understand your life and the lessons you’re learning. When you approach your personal development and spiritual growth with curiosity, your own insights and choices become easier. Decisions feel less pressurized. Mary’s work reminds you that wisdom doesn’t have to be heavy or dramatic. Sometimes it’s simple and even fun. Often, it’s waiting for you to stop striving and take the time to simply listen. Here’s How You Know You’re Using Midlife Magic

Reaching the age of 50 isn’t when the magic fades, but when you encounter the midlife magic and inner wisdom that brings you greater peace and joy. Those small signs, strange coincidences, and odd little nudges you’ve been noticing are life trying to get your attention! Slow Down to See the Magic This is something I’ve been noticing more and more, both in my own life and in conversations with women like you. It’s subtle and often hard to name, yet once you begin to sense it, something shifts. Life starts to feel a little easier, more exciting, and unexpectedly richer. Midlife carries a particular kind of magic. Not the dramatic kind, but something subtle and more alive. A kind of magic that doesn’t announce itself loudly. Instead, it becomes visible when you slow down enough to notice what may have been present all along, waiting for your attention. For many women, this stage of life arrives with mixed feelings. On the surface, things are fine. You’re functioning, capable, and holding things together. Yet underneath, you might notice a low hum of restlessness. Friends have moved away. If you have children, maybe they’ve left home. Days can feel repetitive. Nothing is wrong, but something feels off. You may find yourself wondering if this is really all there is. That feeling doesn’t mean something has gone wrong. In fact, it may be a signal that something deeper is ready to emerge. The Subtle Shift in Midlife By the time you reach midlife, you’ve already lived a rich stretch of life. You’ve loved, adapted, endured, learned, and carried responsibility in countless visible and invisible ways. Even if you don’t always recognize it as wisdom, there is a depth of knowing that comes from navigating real experience over time. This is often the moment that quiet sense of blah surfaces, not as a failure, but as a signal that something deeper is ready to emerge. For many women, an internal shift begins to unfold. The constant drive to prove, push, or keep up starts to loosen its grip. You may care a little less about what others think. The outer noise dims just enough for you to sense something more subtle moving underneath it. What emerges is a different kind of awareness. A willingness to listen more closely to what’s happening around you and within you. There may be a growing curiosity about what feels meaningful now, rather than what once felt necessary or expected. Midlife doesn’t arrive with a clear announcement. It creeps in gradually, and then one day you realize you’re standing in a new phase. Yes, it may come with a few gray hairs, but it also brings the possibility of greater discernment, honesty with yourself, and a deeper connection to what truly matters. This stage of life naturally invites reflection and a slower, more intentional way of listening. You may find yourself relying less on figuring everything out and more on presence, patience, and awareness. Becoming the Wise Woman This is why I call you wise women, even if you don’t fully identify with that name yet. Wisdom isn’t about accumulating more information. It’s about recognizing and sensing what’s essential. You begin to trust what you’ve learned through experience and more of that can be cultivated over time. By midlife, your knowledge has had time to mature into meaningful insight. Your sense of inner authority may be emerging, even if you still look to others out of habit. With greater awareness and reflection, you may notice how your timing, decisions, and attention shape your life in more intuitive ways. The wise woman moves through life with discernment. She understands that clarity doesn’t always come through effort or logic alone, but through attention and reflection. This way of living can be strengthened with practice, support, and guidance. Even if you’re not fully living this way yet, you may already sense it’s possible. That knowing is important. It means the door is open. What Magic Looks Like When I talk about midlife magic, I’m talking about perception. The ability to notice underlying messages from your inner wisdom, higher self, or spirit. Magic lives in awareness. It shows up as moments of resonance, gentle guidance, and the feeling that life is quietly responding to you. You may notice synchronicities appearing more often, beauty landing more deeply, or intuition speaking more clearly. As internal noise quiets and striving eases, space opens. Your perception sharpens because you’re available to notice more. This connection doesn’t need to be summoned. It reveals itself naturally as you move through your day with openness and attention. One of the most reliable ways this magic appears is through beauty. Beauty that arises naturally and catches your attention. Light filtering through trees. Firelight flickering across a room. Snow falling into stillness. These moments slow you down and bring you into your body. They remind you that life is still offering meaning in quiet, accessible ways. This is why I spend time in my garden. Sitting near my zinnias, bordered by wild, unclaimed land, I feel connected to something larger. Over time, this practice has become a place of grounding, insight, and presence. The wisdom of the natural world has taught me that when we slow down and listen, guidance arrives. Synchronicity as Conversation Another way midlife magic reveals itself is through synchronicity. A book appears at the right moment. A thought is echoed by an unexpected phone call. A message arrives just when it’s needed. These moments can feel like a conversation with the Universe itself. A sense that something unseen is responding to your questions or intentions. I’ve experienced this many times, including during my years as a dating coach when a simple affirmation about writing for a women’s magazine turned into a four-year column through an unexpected conversation. This was no coincidence but an amazing response from the Universe. Even if you’re not fully living as a wise woman yet, you can learn to notice these moments. A wise woman pays attention, reflects, and allows meaning to unfold. The Return of Aliveness Here’s what feels important to say. The easing that comes in midlife isn’t due to a loss of vitality. Midlife can be a powerful time of trusting what you know and honoring the wisdom you’ve earned, while continuing to grow into deeper connection and awareness. When you begin to tune in this way, joy becomes less frantic and more luminous. Life feels responsive. Meaning expands. You don’t need to chase this magic. You simply need to notice where life already feels alive and engaged. Midlife isn’t a narrowing of life. It’s an opening into a more intimate relationship with yourself, with life, and with something greater. Something ancient and luminous is stirring within you now. As you slow down and pay attention, life begins to respond. This is where your magic lives — and it is only just beginning. It’s time to celebrate your wisdom and open to your midlife magic!   The post Here’s How You Know You’re Using Midlife Magic appeared first on Intuitive Edge.

How To Use The Fire Element To Transform Your Life

Today, I’m talking about the element of fire. This is the third episode in my series on the elements. Last fall, I explored water and wind, what they represent and how to work with them in everyday life. The Element of Fire When I say fire, I mean the flames that warm you, cook your food, clear land, and forge metal. Fire is one of the few elements that feels instantly familiar and deeply mysterious at the same time. You’ve sat in front of a fire and felt its heat. You’ve probably stared into the flames and lost track of time, almost like a meditation. That alone tells you something important. For thousands of years, fire has been far more than a tool. It has been treated as a presence, revered as a teacher, and even honored as a deity. Across cultures, fire has been seen as a messenger between worlds, a force that connects the visible and invisible. In classical and esoteric traditions, fire is one of the four primary elements, alongside earth, water, and air. It’s associated with energy, passion, illumination, will, creation, destruction, and transformation. More than anything, fire is the element that changes things. Everything that touches fire is altered, and there is no undo button when it comes to flames. That’s exactly why mystics, shamans, and alchemists paid such close attention to it. When I talk about fire as a spiritual element, I’m talking about a force that burns away what no longer serves, illuminates what’s been hidden, and initiates transformation at a deep level. Fire is never subtle. Fire Across Time and Tradition If you look back through history, fire appears everywhere people were trying to understand life, death, and the unseen world. In ancient Greece, fire was considered a divine substance, famously stolen from the gods by Prometheus and given to humanity. That myth alone tells you how powerful fire was perceived to be. Fire wasn’t just heat, it was consciousness, creativity, and civilization itself. In Vedic and yogic traditions, the fire element is called tejas. Tejas represents inner radiance, metabolic energy, and illumination. It’s linked not only to digestion of food, but to digestion of experience, what you can process, integrate, and turn into wisdom. In Chinese philosophy, fire is one of five elements and is associated with the heart, joy, vitality, and spirit. When fire is balanced, there’s warmth and enthusiasm for life. When it’s excessive or depleted, it shows up as burnout, agitation, or a coldness of spirit. Celtic traditions placed fire at the center of seasonal festivals like Beltane and Samhain. Bonfires marked thresholds between worlds, protected communities, and ushered in new cycles. Fire was symbolic and practical. And in homes across the world, the hearth fire was the literal and energetic center of life. It’s where food was prepared, stories were told, and decisions were made. The hearth was both sacred and ordinary. When we work with fire today, we’re stepping into one of the oldest relationships humans have ever had with an element that could both sustain and destroy them. Fire demands respect and doesn’t negotiate. In return, it offers truth by stripping away illusion and getting to the core. Builder, Destroyer, and Catalyst for Change One of the most important things to understand about fire is its dual nature. Fire is both a builder and a destroyer. People usually think of fire’s destructive qualities, but destruction is not inherently bad. Fire clears old growth in the forest, so new life can emerge. It purifies, resets, and creates space. In alchemy and mysticism, this dual role is essential. Fire breaks structures down to their core components. From that essential place, something new can be formed. This mirrors an inner process many people experience, especially in midlife and beyond. There’s often a moment when what used to work no longer does. Old identities might feel restrictive and old patterns can feel exhausting. Maybe there’s an inner fire saying, “This cannot continue.” That inner fire isn’t trying to make you uncomfortable, but working to realign you. Fire doesn’t consider your comfort zone as it eliminates illusion to reveal the truth. Fire and Spiritual Alchemy In spiritual alchemy, fire is the heat that refines raw material into something clearer and more potent. Alchemists weren’t just trying to turn lead into gold. They were working to transform fear, emotion, and confusion into insight and clarity. That doesn’t happen without heat. Fire has long been described as a bearer of information, a force that accelerates transformation and amplifies subtle energy. In yogic and Buddhist traditions, balanced inner fire is linked with clear perception and intuitive awareness. You see more clearly. You digest experience instead of storing it as emotional baggage. This is why working with fire can feel clarifying and, at times, uncomfortable. Fire asks simple but powerful questions such as: What’s ready to be released? What truth is trying to surface? What no longer fits? If you’ve ever sat in front of a candle and had an unexpected realization, you already know how fire speaks. The Hearth and Everyday Alchemy For most of human history, the hearth fire represented safety, nourishment, and belonging. In Greek tradition, Hestia was the goddess of the hearth, embodying stillness and presence. In Irish tradition, Brigid carried the triple flame of hearth, forge, and inspiration, overseeing care, craft, and creativity. Cooking over fire is everyday alchemy. Raw ingredients are transformed into nourishment through heat, time, and attention. When you cook with awareness or light a candle with intention, you’re already working with fire as an ally. Fire for Manifesting and Divining Fire has also long been used for manifestation and divination. It creates momentum – just think of how a fire spreads so rapidly. Fire also shifts things from one state to another, responding to clarity and sincerity, rather than force or desperation. Across traditions, people burned symbols of what they wanted to release or manifest. Watching something physically transform signals completion to your nervous system. The flames help the body and psyche understand that a shift has occurred. Fire has also been used for divination, especially using a candle. Observing how a flame moves, steadies, flares, or resists lighting has long been a way of engaging intuition. Fire helps you reflect on what’s already present rathern than telling you what to do. One of the easiest ways to work with fire is by candle gazing, a practice found in yogic traditions called tratakah. Watching the flame steadies the mind, quiets mental chatter, and brings clarity. Listen to the podcast to discover several simple fire practices in the podcast. Message from the Element of Fire Intuitively. I’ve connected with the element of fire. A couple of years ago, my friend Krista and I sat in front of a fire. Suddenly she suggested we should “talk to the fire.” I was surprised, and honestly delighted, when I actually heard something. I had been told it takes years of training to speak with the elements. That’s no longer true. The energy on earth moves faster now. The veil is thinner. Many people have a higher vibration today. What I heard from the fire was simple and unmistakable: “I am powerful. I am destructive. I am creative. I am transformative. I am beautiful. I am warmth. I am dancing. I am passion.” That sounds exactly like fire, doesn’t it? Fire teaches through warmth and light, but also through endings and change. When you work with fire, you’re can’t control it. You’re partnering with a force that knows how to transform everything it touches. You listen, respect, and collaborate. Sometimes, that’s exactly the kind of magic you need.
