Ep. 18: Chelsea - Exploring Health: A Journey Through Migraines, Epilepsy, Mental Health, and Advocacy.

This month, we're diving into diverse aspects of health, exploring everything from food science to invisible disabilities and mental wellness. In this week's episode, I chat with my friend Chelsea, as we discuss the intersection of epilepsy, migraines, and mental health while navigating a challenging healthcare system as she learns to advocate for her own well-being. Chelsea shares her migraine journey, which began when she was around 7 or 8 years old. She recounts the times she felt unwell and had to leave school. With her mother's support, they consulted numerous doctors and specialists in search of effective treatments for her migraines, but with little success. They took charge of the situation by carefully tracking her food intake, symptoms, and triggers to aid in her case. Countless frustrating experiences with healthcare providers left her feeling defeated as she sought to uncover the root cause of her symptoms. It wasn't until she experienced her first nocturnal epileptic episode as an adult that she discovered a specialist better equipped to help her manage her migraines effectively. In addition, Chelsea found out she had a gluten allergy and began monitoring her diet to eliminate potential triggers. Her willingness to discuss the challenges of managing migraines in the workplace and her relentless search for effective solutions is truly inspiring. Moreover, after her epileptic episodes, she started therapy to navigate the complexities of a frustrating healthcare system, deepening her self-understanding and highlighting the vital importance of advocating for one's well-being.

Ep. 13: Chuang Zhu and Isaac Zhu - Australian Football Culture, English Premier League, and FIFA 2026

As FIFA 2026 takes place this June in North America, I am excited to continue the FIFA 2026 series. Every week, I will delve into the dynamic football culture from different regions around the world. In this week’s episode, I have the delight of conversing with the father-son duo, Chuang and Isaac Zhu, who come from Sydney, Australia. They offer their perspectives on Australian football culture, while Chuang shares his insights regarding FIFA 2026. Chuang's passion for football ignited in China, where he enjoyed watching major tournament matches alongside his father, a former goalkeeper and devoted supporter of Argentina. After relocating to Sydney, Australia, his enthusiasm for the English Premier League flourished during his high school years, and he proudly embraced his identity as a Manchester United fan, with Eric Cantona being one of his earliest idols. While living in London, Chuang had the exhilarating chance to attend a live Manchester United match. Now, as a father, he is eager to share his love for English Premier League football with his two young sons. Chuang and his wife, Julie, are dedicated supporters of their children’s competitive soccer activities. Isaac, their eldest son, has expressed that his favorite player is Cole Palmer from Chelsea, having witnessed him score in the 2024 Euro final where England faced Spain. Chuang also enjoyed a couple of English Premier League games with his wife and two sons during their recent visit back to London, England.
