She Turned Pain Into Power | Kia

Kia has transformed her life into a mission rooted in advocacy, empowerment, and change.  Born and raised in Brooklyn’s Bed-Stuy neighborhood, Kia became involved in the streets at a young age, leading to multiple incarcerations beginning in her teens. While her environment shaped many of her early decisions, her story did not end there. Since returning home in 2012, Kia has rebuilt her life with purpose and determination. She earned her bachelor’s degree, worked in social services and reentry leadership, founded 2Win Flames Productions LLC, and became an author, advocate, and speaker focused on helping justice-impacted individuals rebuild their lives. Kia is also deeply involved in legislative advocacy efforts surrounding justice reform, including support for the Clean Slate Act, Second Look Act, Earned Time Act, and the Marvin Mayfield Act. Beyond advocacy, Kia has embraced Artificial Intelligence as a tool for storytelling, business, education, and generational change—teaching herself how to use AI to create opportunities for underserved communities and returning citizens. In this episode of Dog In The Yard, Kia speaks on incarceration, transformation, reentry, AI innovation, legal advocacy, and what it truly means to rebuild your life on your own terms.
