Many people with a fatty liver are unaware that they even have a liver problem, as the symptoms can be vague and non-specific, especially in the early stages. Most people with a fatty liver feel generally unwell, and find they are becoming increasingly fatigued and overweight for no apparent reason. www.cabothealth.com.au www.liverdoctor.com

Insulin Resistance Reversed - Interview with patient, Bev

In today's episode I am joined by my patient, Bev, who shares her experience of reversing insulin resistance. Bev is a retired registered nurse so knows a lot more than the average person about health. When I first met Bev, she was carrying extra weight around the abdominal area and had elevated fasting blood sugar levels. Bev had been an athlete her entire life, and always active in some form. She was never unhealthy or eating a bad diet, but underneath the surface was the underlying issue of insulin resistance. While she was eating lots of healthy foods like vegetables and meat, she was also eating a lot of excess carbs in the form of pasta, bread and sweet foods. Bev was insulin resistant, pre-diabetic, with very high blood pressure, reflux and was extremely intolerant to heat. Since my diagnosis of insulin resistance 2 years ago, Bev's previous health issues have improved significantly or disappeared entirely through eliminating gluten, improving liver function, and losing 16 kg.Visit Dr Cabot website to find out more about Dr Cabot (spoiler alert, she's also a pilot!), to access her Weight Loss Detective Program, podcasts, videos, article and testimonials:https://www.sandracabot.com/Visit Dr Cabot's Australian website for the Cabot Health supplement range, books, health articles, recipes and free downloads:https://www.cabothealth.com.au/Visit Dr Cabot's US website for the Liver Doctor supplement range, books, health articles, recipes and free downloads:https://www.liverdoctor.com/

Fatty Liver success story with Michelle - Part 1

Dr Cabot sits down with long-term patient and guest star, Michelle to talk about her incredible fatty liver success story. In 2000, Michelle was suddenly hospitalised with severe onset liver and kidney failure. It was a real shock to her as she had no idea she had any issues with her liver. She was severely jaundiced and low in energy with her liver enzymes being extremely elevated. The cause was never discovered, making it quite a mysterious liver disease. At the time of diagnosis, Michelle weighed around 90 kg and her diet wasn't great. The doctors recommended rest and diet changes, but a lot of the recommendations from the dietician were high in carbohydrates. As a result, Michelle put on more weight, had reflux, remained tired, had indigestion and a chronic fungal infection in her nails. When Dr Cabot first met Michelle, she tested her to see if she had the genes to predispose her to gluten intolerance and it was discovered that Michelle was indeed gluten intolerant. She was put on a diet that excluded grains and although it was hard in the beginning, has now become a way of life for her. She feels so much better in herself now.  Visit Dr Cabot website to find out more about Dr Cabot (spoiler alert, she's also a pilot!), to access her Weight Loss Detective Program, podcasts, videos, article and testimonials:https://www.sandracabot.com/Visit Dr Cabot's Australian website for the Cabot Health supplement range, books, health articles, recipes and free downloads:https://www.cabothealth.com.au/Visit Dr Cabot's US website for the Liver Doctor supplement range, books, health articles, recipes and free downloads:https://www.liverdoctor.com/

    Solutions for Reducing Cold Sores

In Dr Cabot's latest podcast she sits down once more with natural therapist, Rachel Bowerman to discuss cold sores and shingles. Cold sores are easily the most common type of herpes virus to infect humans. There are a lot of people who experience chronic or recurrent cold sores or shingles. Rachel has worked in pharmacies for over 20 years and has a lot of experience both personally and professionally with cold sores. People are always looking for ways to prevent them as not only are they contagious, but they can also be unsightly. If you get a lot of cold sores this is an indicator that your immune system needs some support. There have been lots of studies on selenium and its ability to reduce the severity and frequency of viral infections. In this way it can be very effective at reducing cold sores. Dr Cabot calls selenium the ‘viral birth control pill’ as it stops the ability of viruses to replicate. Vitamin D is another nutrient that is critical for the brain and immune system. If you are someone who experiences recurring cold sores, look at taking selenium and checking your vitamin D level. The amazing health properties of NAC

Have you heard of NAC? In our latest podcast Dr Cabot talks to natural therapist, Rachel Bowerman about NAC. NAC stands for N-Acetyl Cysteine and is the precursor to glutathione; the body's most potent antioxidant. NAC is rapidly absorbed from the gut and goes straight to the liver where it is converted to glutathione. NAC is a critical supplement for people with chronic infections or chronic inflammation. There are numerous health studies on NAC and its ability to break down biofilm (the thick mucus that builds up around an infection) and for this reason is extremely effective for treating viral or bacterial infections, cystic fibrosis, chronic lung disease, chronic bronchitis, post-nasal drip or sinusitis. It is also beneficial for treating conditions such as age-related macular degeneration (the most common cause of blindness), endometriosis, lung and kidney problems. Did you know glutathione does not work as well if you are low in selenium? If you are taking NAC and not getting the results you want, it could be because you also need to take selenium.  Visit Dr Cabot website to find out more about Dr Cabot (spoiler alert, she's also a pilot!), to access her Weight Loss Detective Program, podcasts, videos, article and testimonials:https://www.sandracabot.com/Visit Dr Cabot's Australian website for the Cabot Health supplement range, books, health articles, recipes and free downloads:https://www.cabothealth.com.au/Visit Dr Cabot's US website for the Liver Doctor supplement range, books, health articles, recipes and free downloads:https://www.liverdoctor.com/
