    Shane McKinney - FNRAd S11E15

    Send a text Shane McKinney created Invasion snowboards in the early 90's and kept the ship sailing for over ten years. During the course of Invasion Shane went from being a snowboarder with sponsors to a brand owner sponsoring some of the best north shore rippers around. Invasion was the first brand to gain a big community acceptance at Seymour, paving the way for Dinosaurs Will Die and other local brands to build a great following there.     Smelly (NOFX) - FNRad S11E14

    Send us a text Smelly is the drummer in NOFX. He's been shaping surfboards for a while and within the last 6 years or so has started selling those surfboards to the public. That's how Carl from Upline Brewing got to know him and introduce him to me. Smelly's surfboard brand, Picklestix, did a colab with Dave Lee and the boys at Signal Snowboards creating a Picklestix series in 153, 157, and 161cm... The boards look amazing and according to Smelly ride amazing too. I never dreamed I'd get to meet much less interview a huge celebrity like Smelly.     Remembering Don Szabo - FNRad S11E13

    Send us a text Don Szabo's passing last week sucked. He was a pillar of joyous excitement in the action sports world. Don started his career as professional skateboarder and fell in love with snowboarding in Southern California. His pro model on Nectar snowboards out of San Diego was one of the very first pro models in snowboarding. His pro model on Lamar (all 4 of them) were among the best selling boards of the era. Double O Szabo were skits in the Creatures of Habit series of movies and are hilarious. Don's sense of humour shone through his public persona. When his wife and mother died Don was there to hold their hands and care for them. In the ten years since his wife died he travelled and mountain biked and cared for his two daughters, mostly with a smile on his face.     Murray Siple - FNRad S11E10

    Send us a text Murray Siple is a Snowboard Filmmaker from the golden era of snowboarding who was based out of Vancouver and went to Emily Carr art institute. His unique films stood out and started the careers of some of the other BC film crews like Treetop. In 1996 Murray was in a car accident that left him paralyzed. Over the last 33 years he's navigated his new life in a way that can only be described as awe inspiring. His film Carts Of Darkness showcased his continued growth as a film maker and his latest project is adaptive surfing.     Clayton Larson - FNRad S11E8

    Send us a text Clayton Larson filmed for Skids and Sandbox movies, shot with legendary snowboarders during the golden years of independent snowboard movies. His life path was set the day he saw his first two snowboarding movies, Whiskey and Whiskey 2. Clayton just co-directed and edited his first full length feature documentary film, Our Kind Of Chaos. It's a deep dive into the Whiskey franchise and the lives of the people behind it, namely Sean Kearns and Sean Johnson. Our Kind Of Chaos breaks new ground thanks to the deep honesty and transparency of the people behind the Whiskey movies who had deep childhood trauma. Thank you to everyone involved with the film for bringing a deeper and more honest dialogue about childhood trauma than I've ever seen before. Special Thanks to Clayton Larson for doing the podcast between screening at the Whistler Film Festival where Our Kind Of Chaos sold out two nights faster than any other film.
