From Fear to Fire: Secrets to Overcome Fear, Embrace your Gifts and Achieve Success

This is the place where real people share real challenges. Where you can find a common bond and uncommon wisdom through their stories. Use tips from the breakthroughs of others to jump start your success. Speaker, author, adventurer, and host Heather Hansen O’Neill takes you on the journey from fear to fire. Today we talk about correlating empathy and research to better understand users and to engage deeply with them.

This week’s theme: Empathy & Research

Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.  Empathy can be cultivated through practice. It is important to practice active listening and to try to understand the other person’s point of view. Compassion and understanding are key components of empathy. Being able to recognize and acknowledge the emotions of another person can help to build trust and connection. Practicing empathy helps to create an environment of understanding and respect. It can also help to reduce conflict, as empathy allows for a deeper understanding of one another.

Guest expert today is Dr. G- or Dr. Bre Gentile, an expert in trauma-informed research. The trauma-informed design demonstrates care, empathy, and a commitment to inclusion. It is a comprehensive approach to designing spaces or services that are intended to be supportive and safe for people who have experienced trauma. It is important to recognize the individual’s strengths, needs, and preferences in order to create a space that is tailored to their specific needs.

    Dr. G

Dr. G is a globally renowned expert in trauma-informed research. Using her background as a clinical psychologist she helps companies big and small to create products and services that are healing and empowering.

Use tips from the breakthroughs of others to jump start your success. Speaker, author, adventurer, and host Heather Hansen O’Neill takes you on the journey from fear to fire. Today we talk about lessons learned from the past and finding a way to apply them in what we are doing today.

This week’s theme: Lessons Learned from NASA

NASA is a government agency that does a variety of things, including exploring space, developing new technologies, and protecting our planet from climate change. But it’s not just about building rockets or satellites; it’s also about learning from mistakes and continual improvement.

That is, NASA has a system in place for sharing lessons learned from each mission, experiment, and project so that we can improve their practices in the future. The program’s goal is to improve NASA’s ability to learn from past mistakes and avoid them in the future. The program encourages transparency, sharing, and accountability. It’s called ACCLLP and is lead by our guest expert today- Michael Ciannilli. We think you’ll find his message and passion fascinating.

    Michael Ciannilli

Michael “Mike” Ciannilli leads NASA’s Apollo, Challenger, Columbia Lessons Learned Program (ACCLLP) directing and developing a wide array of activities to innovatively and effectively share the Agency’s lessons learned to help powerfully influence NASA’s mission success across all programs and missions. Previously, Ciannilli served as NASA Test Director for the Space Shuttle Program where he lead the entire launch team through space shuttle launch countdown activities and was responsible for the processing oversight of the space shuttle orbiters and ground support systems. He also served as the Landing Recovery Director leading contingency operations during launch countdown and landing activities, including a potential emergency flight crew recovery.

Prior to this, Ciannilli lead the creation and development of the internationally recognized Forever Remembered exhibit located at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida. Ciannilli has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the prestigious Silver Snoopy Award, NASA Exceptional Service Medal, Launch and Landing Leadership Award, Launch Countdown Simulation Contingency Leadership Award, Columbia Recovery Team Award, and a NASA Quest Outreach Award among many others.

Today we talk about turning your missing elements into hidden strengths.

    This week’s theme: Hidden Strengths

Unlike our strengths, hidden strengths are not commonly known. They are the talents, skills, and attributes that you don’t already know you have. They aren’t the same as your typical strengths because they’re not in common usage yet. In fact, they’re not even recognized as being strengths at all. It’s why some people don’t use their hidden strengths to their fullest advantage in their careers and personal lives.

Our guest expert believes that human beings are made up of five elements, which are as follows: water, earth, fire/air, wood, and metal. The five elements are the foundation of Chinese philosophy, and we all possess a primary element, which characterizes our inherent talents, and a weak or missing element, which indicates our unrealized potential. But how do we know what our primary element is and what our missing element is? Join us today to discover how to transform your missing element into a hidden strength.

Choosing Extraordinary with Dr. Nido Qubein

CFrom Fear to Fire: Secrets to Overcome Fear, Embrace your Gifts, and Achieve Success

This is the place where real people share real challenges. Where you can find a common bond and uncommon wisdom through their stories, use tips from the breakthroughs of others to jump-start your success. Speaker, author, adventurer, and host Heather Hansen O’Neill takes you on the journey from fear to fire. Today marks a very productive and inspired talk about choosing extraordinary in our life’s journey.

    This week’s theme: Choosing Extraordinary

You have a choice to be extraordinary.

But what does it mean to be extraordinary? It means that you are the best at what you do, that you have distinction, and that you bring something unique and special to your work.

Choosing to be extraordinary is something that’s all about you and your own journey. The first step is to think about what it means for you and how you want to live your life. The next step is to start taking steps towards making your dreams a reality. It’s important to remember that being extraordinary doesn’t mean being perfect but living a life of distinction and joy.

This idea of Choosing Extraordinary is a motto at High Point University and only one of our topics today. Others include risk, faithful courage, dealing with naysayers, failure, and the influence his mother had on his decisions. His story is inspiring and is a call for you too to be extraordinary!

    Dr. Nido Qubein

Dr. Nido Qubein serves as the president of High Point University where, even in the middle of the Great Recession, he increased enrollment by 250%, grew net assets from $56M to almost a billion dollars, created seven new academic schools – most recently adding the Workman School of Dental Medicine, and attracted $500 million in philanthropic investments. His family is among the institution’s most generous donors.

He came to the United States as a teenager with limited knowledge of English and only $50 in his pocket. His inspiring life story is one filled with adversity and abundance. It is through the lens of his life accomplishments, that one appreciates his current role as an educator, philanthropist, and passionate advocate for the development of our future leaders.

Prior to his role as High Point University president, Dr. Qubein rose to prominence as an internationally known author and consultant. He serves on the corporate boards of several Fortune 500 companies including Truist, the 6th largest bank in the nation, La-Z-boy, and Savista. Qubein is also executive chairman of the Great Harvest Bread Company

He is inducted into the Horatio Alger Association for Distinguished Americans, along with Oprah Winfrey and Colin Powell. He is also the recipient of the DAR Americanism Award and, along with four U.S. presidents, the recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. Dr. Qubein has been recognized as both the Citizen of the Year and Philanthropist of the Year in his home city of High Point. Most recently, he was named the Honorary Chairman for the internationally recognized PGA Wyndham Championship.

    Kicking off 2023 with Heather

From Fear to Fire: Secrets to Overcome Fear, Embrace your Gifts and Achieve Success

This is the place where real people share real challenges. Where you can find a common bond and uncommon wisdom through their stories. Use tips from the breakthroughs of others to jump start your success. Speaker, author, adventurer, and host Heather Hansen O’Neill takes you on the journey from fear to fire. Today we’ll be kicking off 2023 with the journey, service, and how you can use the same questions that I have asked to help you gain clarity.

This week’s theme: Kicking off 2023

When it comes to serving others, I strive for extreme clarity. I believe that when it comes to helping others, it is essential to be clear and transparent. This helps to ensure that my clients understand what I am offering and can make an informed decision about whether or not it is the right fit for them. Do you have a similar process? Here are some questions you may want to ask:

    * Have you taken time for reflection?  Asking:

    * What worked this year?

    * How did I help people best?

    * Who do I love to work with? How can I serve them better?

    * What didn’t work? What part of it was in my control? How can I improve that part for the next time?

    * What else should I be considering?

    * Do you know the areas where you need more clarity – either for yourself or in how you communicate with others?

    * How do you feel? Is there a sense of wellbeing, peace, and satisfaction? Or do you feel overwhelmed, out of control, and stressed out?

    * Do you believe that you have the power within you to change? Do you want to?

The year 2023 is almost here, and I am so incredibly excited! 2023 is sure to be an exciting year for the world- let’s make sure you kick it off in the right way.

This week’s theme: Time, Habits, and Results

Time is a precious commodity that cannot be replaced, and it is limited. Habits are behaviors that become routine and can be difficult to break. Results are the outcomes of our habits and how we use our time.

When we waste time on bad habits, we miss out on the results we could have achieved if we used our time wisely. When we don’t set aside time for the things that are important to us, we miss out on the results of doing them. On the other hand, when we use our time strategically and invest in our habits, we can achieve incredible results.

Creating good habits and using our time wisely can lead to amazing results. We can become more productive, learn new skills, and accomplish goals. We can achieve financial freedom, build relationships, and create a fulfilling life. Time and habits are connected. By developing the right habits, we can maximize the use of our time and achieve the results we desire. Habits are the foundation of our lives, and when we use our time wisely, we can use our habits to create results that will benefit us in the long run.
