Advent Part 1 - God Promises a Savior
Join us as Julie and Matt take you through the enchanting and magical season of Christmas. Listen in as we get in the holiday spirit, share jokes, discuss traditions, and eagerly anticipate the joys of the season. This episode we question what "Advent" means and explore the importance of this season beyond the presents and decorations.
But hold your holiday horses! We're not just talking presents and decorations here, we're journeying back to the biblical roots of Christmas. While we anticipate the arrival of the big day, let's rewind to the very beginning - the book of Genesis. We'll explore the inception of everything good, and remind ourselves that Christmas is not merely about the gifts under the tree, but about celebrating the birth of Jesus.

Season 9 RECAP: The 10 Commandments
Listen in as we wrap up Season 9 of God's Big Story where we've taken a journey through the 10 Commandments. Matt and Julie celebrate by reciting all 10 commandments, which we've been memorizing throughout the season, and we're even inviting you to join us! From remembering the Sabbath to honoring our parents, we're so excited to have learned, loved, and lived by these commandments.
Also, we're thrilled to have our good friend Jen Wilkin join us for this season finale! She's here to share her insights on what to do with all that we've learned and how we can live by these commandments. As Jen so eloquently puts it, "Know the commandments, then obey or do the commandments." So, don't miss out as we explore how we can put into practice the commandments we've worked so hard to memorize.

You Shall Not Covet
Julie and Matt explore the 10th commandment, "you shall not covet," and they grapple with its meaning and how it ties into trusting God. This episode is a great reminder of how simple gestures can help us remember and understand complex biblical teachings.
As a bonus, our good friend and new mom, Amber, stops by to share her journey of new motherhood, her struggles with understanding her baby's needs, and how she continues to strive to provide the best for her child. Through her story, we're reminded that just as a mother knows and wants what's best for her child, God, as our heavenly father, knows and wants what's best for us.

You Shall Not Bear False Witness
Join us as we decode the 9th Commandment, "Thou shalt not bear false witness." We break down these big words, with our good friend Judge Jesse shedding light on the serious implications of bearing false witness in the courtroom and how bearing false witness is equated to a violent weapon in the book of Proverbs.
We read in the Bible about the intriguing story of Jezebel and Naboth. We highlight how the temptation to bear false witness led Jezebel to commit a heinous act, resulting in innocent Naboth paying the price. Listen in, as we reaffirm the understanding that God is indeed good.

Parents, do you ever come across something and think, "Hey, where was that when I was a kid!?" That's what Kaleidoscope is for us. It's perfect for kids ages 6-12 and makes the most fabulous Christmas gift. Let me tell you more: as a parent, you want to give your kids helpful, faithful, Biblical resources as early as you can. But eventually, kids grow out of storybook bibles (+ they've read them a million times). So, what's next? Jumping straight to an adult translation is a HUGE leap... most of them are written at a high school level or higher and kids find them boring, cumbersome, and just simply too much! What's a parent to do with that tricky in-between stage to keep kids engaged in studying God's word? That's where Kaleidoscope comes in. They help bridge the gap between storybook bibles and adult translations by retelling every book of the Bible at an elementary reading level in beautifully designed, single-volume chapter books. Your kids will learn in words and language they can understand! SEE... where was that when we were kids, am i right?? Kaleidoscope also has volumes on everything from Genesis and Exodus to Mark and Romans. Check them out today at readkaleidoscope.com or follow them on Instagram at @readkaleidoscope. But wait, there's more...take 10% off your order this Christmas season with the code BIGSTORY. Kaleidoscope… the new kid in kids' bibles.

You Shall Not Steal
Get ready to join Julie and Matt, as they unpack the meaning of the 8th commandment, 'You shall not steal'. In this episode, we invite our good friend and baseball player, Justin, to share his unique perspective on the concept of 'stealing' within the realm of baseball. Tune in as we explore the differences between stealing in a game like baseball and stealing outside of the game.
We also journey through the story of Jacob and Esau from the Bible, a classic tale of deceit and theft. We unpack how stealing was not only wrong in God's eyes but also a demonstration of a lack of trust in God's plan. We wrap up the episode with a fun game to review what we learned and reflect on how we can trust in God's plan for us.
