Headlong: Missing Richard Simmons
On February 15, 2014, fitness guru Richard Simmons disappeared. He stopped teaching his regular exercise class at Slimmons, cut off his closest friends, and removed himself from the public eye after decades as one of the most accessible celebrities in the world. Nobody has heard from him - and no one knows why he left. Filmmaker Dan Taberski was a Slimmons regular and a friend of Richard’s. Missing Richard Simmons is Dan’s search for Richard - and the deeper he digs, the stranger it gets. Listen to the podcast The New York Times calls "a cultural phenomenon." Headlong is Dan Taberski’s documentary podcast that explores the lives of overlooked people, moments and events in our culture. Season 2 is Surviving Y2K. Season 3 is Running From COPS.

Empaths
2020-01-31
It seems he is an empath who gave and was “on” for most of his life and he’s likely exhausted, not the kind of exhausted you are at the end of exams, or after a long physical or emotional journey. It’s a different exhaustion. He might be going through other things too - transitioning or whatever other theories... but... please interview an empath.
Why??
2024-04-02
I listened until the end and continued to ask myself why I was listening, but most importantly why this podcast was made. Seems that people / social media cannot just leave well enough alone, and that prying into others’ lives is more important than protecting their privacy. I do not believe that Richard was the weight loss guru that he is being made out to be. We now know that weight loss is a complex chronic DISEASE that requires a team of health professionals who understand its complexities. Richard was not that person! He was a needy celebrity who eventually realized that he was tired and needed a rest. And perhaps he realized that his knowledge was lacking in the obesity fight. Let’s respect that and leave him along.

I blame Howard Stern. Look back into that timeline and form your own opinion.
Scary
2022-06-20
As noted before, this is straight up stalking with a complete disregard of the subjects feelings and right to privacy. Dan Tabarski tries to hide his obsession behind a veil of well-meaning curiosity and concern, but he turns out to be one scary stan. Pray that you never have a friend or fan like Dan Tabarski, he does not care about you or the truth; just his ”career”. Peeping Tom in podcast format.
