17: Dancing with the Devil with D Jay McGrath

17: Dancing with the Devil with D Jay McGrath

After grappling with homesickness, anxiety, and depression as a result of moving away from home at age 15 to play AAA hockey, D Jay McGrath turned to alcohol to cope and numb his feelings. That choice landed him in a 10 year 'dance with the devil' in active alcohol and drug addiction.

On June 6th, 2022, D Jay finally opened up to his parents and began his journey to recovery and sobriety.  He’s been sober since that day. Join me as D Jay shares what it was like to go from never picking up a drink to falling hard into the world of addiction and how he made a conscious choice to seek help and find his way back to himself.

15: Grief is the Great Equalizer with Jeremy Allen

Jeremy Allen is a funeral director and embalmer who normalizes difficult conversations about grief, without dehumanizing the process of loss. At the age of 24 years old, him and his wife bought a funeral home and have been serving families in their most vulnerable states of grief and loss since then. Join me in this episode to hear how cheating on a Grade 12 Social Studies final exam led Jeremy to his heart work, how we can hold both grief and joy simultaneously and what the right things are to say to those we love and care for who are grieving.

14: Your body is not the problem with Ashlee Piper

It's a long, hard fight to feel worthy in our own bodies every single day. Ashlee Piper, a self-love advocate who challenges the narrative around body image, diet culture and self-love, joins me in this episode as we spit truths and challenge societal standards in beauty and worthiness. Ashlee has built a community around the belief that our worth is not a reflection of the size or shape of our bodies and offers a vulnerable look at her own self-love journey. If you've struggled on your own self-love journey, this episode is for you - so many golden nuggets in this one!
