    Today’s episode is a tender and meaningful one. We’re joined by Julie Dominguez, a woman whose story carries both deep sorrow and quiet strength. Julie opens her heart to share about the loss of her teenage daughter, Meagan, and what she has learned through the long journey of grief. I just want to say before we start how much I admire Julie’s willingness to be so open about something so painful. Grief is such a personal thing, and yet she has been willing to let others into that journey. Through her story, you really see who God has been to her in those darkest moments, and also how the people around her helped walk alongside her through that pain. One thing that stood out to me so much in talking with Julie is just her huge mom heart. Her love for Meagan is so evident. It’s been many years since Meagan went to heaven, but you can tell it still feels so fresh to Julie. That kind of loss is not something you ever truly get over, it just still really hurts.     This season, Beauty for Ashes, has been about remembering that God doesn’t waste anything. He meets us right in the middle of our brokenness and if we let Him, He slowly, faithfully brings something good out of it. Today’s episode is with my sweet friend, Katy Moffitt, and I’m just really excited for you to hear from her. Katy shares her story of coming out of some really dark, heavy and painful places and being brought into God’s marvelous light through salvation. One of the things I admire most about Katy is her humility. She’s so willing to own her own struggles and be real about her journey, and it makes what she shares feel really practical and helpful. She’s also just really easy to listen to. There’s a sweetness about her that I think you’ll pick up on right away. Katy is a quality lady, and I know this conversation is going to encourage you, no matter what season you’re in. Several times in this episode we talk about the idea of putting God on trial. When we go through struggles, one of our first reactions as humans is to ask “why.” We look for someone or something to blame, and often, we feel anger. I’ll be the first to admit—I’ve been there. I’ve felt those same emotions and taken those same actions. But I can also tell you this: the moment I began to accept God’s sovereignty, and to see my struggles as part of His perfect will, something started to change. That’s when I began to heal. That’s when I was able to move forward. The beauty, though, doesn’t come right away. It comes when we take ownership of our part in the struggle. If our hardship is the result of sin, then we have to be willing to confess, repent, and do the work to make things right. And if our struggle is something beyond us, something allowed by God, then we’re called to trust. To believe that His ways are better than our ways. That’s not easy. Believe me, I know.     This episode feels really special to me because I get to share a conversation with someone who’s not just a guest but a friend of mine from back in my college days, Esther Wruck. Esther is just one of those people who is so easy to listen to. She’s gentle, she’s honest, and the way she talks about hard things is just really practical and helpful. I’ve learned a lot from her just by being her friend. In this episode, she opens up about what it was like to find out her daughter has Down syndrome and the unexpected beauty that’s come through it. She also shares about her experience with hormonal depression, something I think so many people can relate to, even if it’s not often talked about out loud. Something I really admire about Esther is the way she was raised, you can just hear it in who she is. I also love how much she loves her church and how her faith really shows up in the way she lives her life and walks through both the good and the hard.     Today’s episode is one that I think is going to stay with you. Our guest is Virginia Harris, and I wish you all will someday have the opportunity to see her smiling face. If you know her, you already know she has this joy about her that just draws you in. She’s the kind of person who feels like an instant friend. Easy to talk to, easy to listen to. And she just radiates the love of God. But her testimony is not one that does not include deep pain. Virginia is going to share about a car accident that changed her life forever. In a single moment, everything shifted. And what followed wasn’t a quick fix or an immediate “I see the purpose in this.” It was a long road physically, emotionally, and spiritually. One of the things I admire most about her is her honesty. She’s not going to tie this up in a neat little bow. She’s going to talk about the pain. The wrestling. The time it took before she could truly thank God for what she went through. Because gratitude doesn’t always come overnight.Healing doesn’t always happen quickly.And, sometimes faith looks like just holding on. But here’s what I love about Virginia, suffering didn’t steal her joy. If anything, it deepened it. Refined it. There’s a steadiness in her now, a sweetness, that you can only get by walking through fire with the Lord.
