Almost a year ago my three teenage daughters and I started watching streamed Japanese tv shows and began picking up so much about the culture and language. We started using some of the more common phrases, interjections, greetings in our daily interactions (much to my husband's...amusement?). I've always loved languages and am a speech-language pathologist so was trying to decipher some of the grammar points just as I read the subtitles. My daughters gave me a basic Japanese book/audio cd for Christmas as well, which wasn't the best. I was surfing for Japanese language sites online and found Japanese Pod101...I started listening and was hooked. I now have a membership and listen to Japanese Pod 101 as I drive to and from work each day. I have actually been known to listen to my mp3 while going to sleep. (My husband thinks I am crazy!) I am actually practising Japanese in my sleep, I think! I enjoy listening to Peter and Sakura each day and love their natural interaction and teaching style. The lesson notes are wonderful and I have them printed off in a binder so that I can review them later. I know that Japanese is a daunting language but thanks to JapanesePod101, I am getting it bit by bit...Thank you so much for all your hard work! Ganbatte!!
Simply fantastic

The best exposure to Japanese I've ever had was one semester of Beginner Japanese (night class) and a few months of the very bland TV Japan broadcast for Canada. Somehow my desire to learn Japanese hasn't quite fizzled out yet and these podcasts really have pumped some needed oxygen back into my quest for another language. Every night I'll listen to two or three episodes (I've started from the beginning) and in a couple of months, I'll be caught up. I never feel lost and I always come away from the lesson understanding it fully and ready to move on to the next episode. Every night I truly look forward to unwinding with a few Japanese lessons and I'm not embarrassed to say I often wake up the next morning with my earphones still on (and few more phrases in my head)! Thanks you, so much... I can't rate this programme and it's hosts high enough. Keep up the great work.

What do you get when you combine the latest in Brain-friendly learning with enthusiasm, energy and a real passion for the language? You get REAL language learning. Research has shown the optimum lesson should be about 15-20 minutes before changing focus. We should challenge our students with new vocabulary while teaching grammar intuitively. We should discuss real practical subjects, engage our audience, and teach grammar intuitively, rather than by learning rules. This podcast does all this and much, much more. It doesn't focus on memorization or learning by rote. The hosts are bursting with energy, enthusiasm and passion for the language and create a craving for learning and turn it into something you enjoy and look forward to each day. And this one isn't only for beginners, but even advanced students will get caught up in the infectious enthusiasm presented on the show. すごく楽しい!たくさん勉強になりました!
