#419: Not Dead, but Asleep - Mark Part 18

Mark series · Part 18 | Scripture: Mark 5:35–43 The messengers arrive with the worst news a father could ever hear: Jairus's little girl has died. "Why bother the teacher anymore?" But Jesus turns to the heartbroken dad and says, "Don't be afraid; just believe." Together we walk the long, silent road to Jairus's house and witness one of the most tender moments in the Gospel of Mark — Jesus taking a little girl by the hand and calling her back to life. Jairus came asking for a healing. Jesus gave him something far greater. A gentle, hope-filled episode for talking with your kids about a hard subject — death — and the One who is stronger than it. In This Episode "Not dead but asleep" — and why the mourners laughed A gentle look at "chronological snobbery": the people of Jesus' day knew exactly what death was — they weren't gullible The Big Idea This story answers the question the disciples first asked back in the storm — "Who is this?" — Jesus is the One with power over death itself. And He uses that power tenderly: mighty enough to raise the dead, gentle enough to hold a little girl's hand. It points us forward to Jesus' own death and resurrection, and to the hope for everyone who trusts Him. Support either way = Shout outs 1. ad-free episodes + 🎨 Coloring page + more 📩 OR 2. #417: Go Home and Tell Them - Mark part 16

Series: Mark Part 16Scripture: Mark 5:1–20 In today’s episode, we continue our journey through the Gospel of Mark and see Jesus step onto the shore in the region of the Gerasenes. There, He meets a man who is suffering terribly and living among the tombs. This story includes demons, sometimes the Bible also calls them unclean spirits, but we handle this carefully and remind kids of the most important truth: Jesus is stronger than darkness. As Jesus speaks with authority, the unclean spirits must obey Him. The man who had been alone, hurting, and in bondage is restored. When the people come and see him, he is sitting with Jesus, dressed, and in his right mind. What a beautiful picture of mercy and rescue. This episode helps kids see that Jesus does not only save and restore people so they can keep it to themselves. He gives His people a story to tell. Wherever Jesus places us—at home, with friends, at school, or in our community—we can tell others how much the Lord has done. Today’s key truth:Jesus is stronger than darkness, full of mercy, and wants us to share his goodness with others. ------------------ The Wonder Project: Subscriber support makes more great content like I Gotta Ask with Annie F. # 414: What Kind of Soil Is My Heart? - Mark part 13

Scripture: Mark 4:1–20 In this episode, we continue our journey through the Gospel of Mark as Jesus teaches beside the lake and tells the Parable of the Sower. Jesus uses the picture of a farmer scattering seed to help us understand what happens in our hearts when we hear God’s Word. Kids will be invited to ask: How do I respond when I hear God's word ? In this story, the seed represents God’s Word, and the different soils represent the different ways people respond when they hear it. Some hearts are distracted, some seem joyful at first but have no root, some are crowded by worries and desires, and some receive the Word, accept it, and produce fruit. Big Takeaways: God’s Word is like seed planted in our hearts. Jesus teaches that people respond to God’s Word in different ways. Sin can make our hearts hard, shallow, distracted, or crowded. We need Jesus to forgive us, change us, and help us receive His Word by faith. The “crop” Jesus talks about is not corn or tomatoes—it is a changed life that looks more like Christ through love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. ---------- Don’t miss Go Minno for faith filled shows you can trust.  ------------------- This week’s Bonus Audio: Bible Dive in the Family Library goes deeper into Mark 4:11–12, which can sound confusing at first.
