Devin, like most worthwhile humans, you are not unidimensional. The variations of your mental states throughout your career and the experimental approaches you take are in the end so very natural and beautiful.
Thank you for illuminating the fluidity of mental health, and of our ways of perceiving and interacting with the world. And for Illuminating the largely unconscious nature of the creative process.
At the centre of the storm is calm. Of course. After shedding the toxins via heavy music explorations and catharsis, of course what remains is a zen like acceptance and calm. It’s great that you are speaking to this on your podcast.
Creating heavy music and shedding the secretly-held sensitivities to the harshness of the world is as healthy as going to the sauna. When we leave the sauna we leave the sweated toxins behind. We are not the toxins; we are not the distortion in our heavy music. We are like you said, at our core, ideally calm.
And that is why I thank you so much for the episodes Terria and Alien which I have listened to so far.
Cheers.
