What It Was Like
Conversations with people who have lived through extreme events. Some stories are dark and twisted, others are light and funny. In all cases, we get an intimate portrait of 'what it was like' to be there. Hosted by Julian Morgans A Superreal Production Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Great podcast… even better questions.

Love how the host asks the exact questions I would ask! Very thought provoking and interesting :)
Too much “Devil’s Advocate”
Oct 23
I listened to most of the episode with The Hollywood hairstylist Emanuel Miller. I stopped just before the end as I just could not take it anymore. Every time Emanuel would tell a story about how he was treated poorly a by celebrity the host would ask if maybe it was actually that they were overwhelmed or busy or something else to make excuses for their awful behaviour. Why ask the guest “What was it like?” - have them tell you - and then are like “was it really like that?”. Ugh! The host asked to be told all these stories about Emanuel being treated poorly and then acts like Emanuel was being mean for telling people he was treated poorly. He also repeatedly implied that Emanuel recounting of experiences was sexist because a lot of his stories of poor treated was by women, which seemed really unfair. Especially since it seemed the the episode was themed around mean girl behaviour as the Swedish interview was brought up more than once (it was explained in the opening). In my opinion, this host interview skills were awful and I only got as far in the episode that I did because I thought that Emanuel handling of situation was thoughtful and showed wisdom.
Really Good, But…
Aug 11
It’s a really good show and I’d recommend a listen. But if you’re like me and almost get physically ill hearing religious ideologies of forgiveness and Jesus etc. be prepared to do a lot of skipping ahead. Totally not my bag. Really annoying. Clap trap. I’m probably going to unfollow. It’s just too ridiculous and irritating for me. Otherwise good presentation and pleasant voice.
Princess Di photographer
Aug 26
This episode was painful and I’m surprised that a podcaster gave voice to this photographer. I wanted to give him a chance, and, of course, his story belongs to him alone. However, he claims that the paparazzi chasing Princess Diana had no responsibility for the accident. Does he not understand that the reason that the driver was speeding was to get away from them? They are THE underlying cause even if they were not the direct cause. This accident would not have occurred if Princess Diana was given the privacy and security that she deserved. The culture of accepting that paparazzi is a part of celebrity life is not humane.
