#50 The Voice in Your Head Is Not Telling You the Truth | Jeremy Stalnecker

50 episodes of Mind Triumph. For this milestone conversation, Aleks sits down with former U.S. Marine Corps Infantry Officer, combat veteran, author, speaker, pastor, and Mighty Oaks Foundation co-founder Jeremy Stalnecker. And the conversation goes straight to the heart of Mind Triumph: What happens when the voice in your head takes how you feel and starts presenting it as truth? Jeremy knows how dangerous that can become. After returning from combat in Iraq and leaving the Marine Corps, he found himself angry, lost, disconnected from his identity and eventually listening to an inner narrative telling him that the people he loved might be better off without him. Today, after nearly 15 years helping veterans, first responders and their families move forward from trauma, Jeremy sees that same pattern again and again. The Talker says: This is who you are now. You’ll never get past this. No one understands. There is no hope. But a thought repeated loudly is not necessarily the truth. In this episode: • Why Jeremy believes the inner voice often narrates our emotions rather than tells us the truth• How trauma can become identity when the Talker keeps reinforcing the story• The difference between having a reason for our behavior and turning it into an excuse• Why isolation makes the inner voice more powerful• How real human connection can interrupt destructive mental narratives• Why support should build you forward rather than validate staying stuck• Jeremy’s personal journey after returning from combat• Why asking for help can feel so difficult• The connection between truth, faith, peace and clarity• How pain can be transformed into something valuable for others• Why there is always hope, even when the Talker says otherwise One of Jeremy’s most powerful insights in this conversation is simple: The inner voice can take something we feel and narrate it so convincingly that we begin treating it as fact. That is why learning to recognize the Talker matters. Because the voice may be loud. That doesn’t make it true. About Jeremy Stalnecker Jeremy Stalnecker is a former U.S. Marine Corps Infantry Officer and combat veteran, author, inspirational speaker, former Senior Pastor, and Co-Founder of the Mighty Oaks Foundation. Through Mighty Oaks, Jeremy has spent years helping veterans, service members, first responders and their families move forward from trauma, PTSD and the unseen wounds of service by rebuilding identity, purpose, faith and hope. #49 Stop Trying to Think Positive | Cristine Hull

What if trying to replace every negative thought with a positive one is actually creating more mental noise? In Episode 49 of Mind Triumph, Aleks sits down with Cristine Hull, PhD, integrative mental health expert, author, educator and speaker, for a fascinating conversation about the Talker, emotional healing, presence, spirituality and the relationship between our thoughts and our inner state. Cristine introduces a surprisingly simple alternative to fighting negative thinking: Go neutral. Instead of judging, labeling or forcing yourself to feel differently, simply notice what is actually here. The wall is white. The clock is ticking. You are sitting. No argument. No story. No need to make the moment good or bad. Aleks and Cristine also explore depression and anxiety through her own lived experience, the difference between the ego mind and the observer, why the past can hold us in emotional heaviness while the future fuels anxiety, and the profound influence A Course in Miracles has had on both of their journeys. In this episode: • Why positive thinking can sometimes create even more inner dialogue• Cristine’s “neutral game” for interrupting mental noise• The relationship between language, thoughts and emotional state• Her journey through depression, anxiety, addiction and long-term recovery• Why the present moment changes our relationship with the Talker• The ego mind versus the observer• A Course in Miracles and the idea of the “holy instant”• Why asking different questions can lead to different answers• The freedom of simply choosing again• Why the Talker keeps convincing us there is still somewhere else to get to Perhaps the most beautiful moment comes at the end. When asked what she would tell her own Talker, Cristine begins: “You’re almost there.” Then she catches herself. “Actually… you are there.” Maybe there is less to fix than the Talker would have us believe. #48 What Africa Taught Me About Actually Living | Silvia Resnik

What if the life we’ve been taught to build is also making it harder for us to actually live? In Episode 48 of Mind Triumph, Aleks sits down with Silvia Resnik, founder of Simple Life Journey and After Awakening, for a raw conversation about depression, spiritual awakening, the inner voice we call the Talker — and the radically different way of experiencing life she discovered through her connection with Tanzania and the Maasai people. Silvia grew up in Austria, surrounded by a culture she describes as structured, achievement-driven, perfectionistic, and often focused on what should happen next. Then she experienced Tanzania. Less planning. Less obsession with perfection. More simplicity. More community. More spontaneity. More life. Silvia describes the Tanzanian expression “pole-pole” — slowly, slowly — and shares how spending time with the Maasai changed her relationship with success, possessions, identity, connection, and the constant pressure of the mind.  But this is not a romanticized story about one culture having all the answers. Silvia also speaks openly about the struggles she has witnessed there, including pressure, loss, mental suffering, and the recent suicide of a friend. The deeper question becomes: What can another way of living teach us about our own? Silvia also takes us into her personal journey through severe depression and profound spiritual experiences, and what happened when she came back to ordinary life afterward. Because awakening, she says, is only part of the journey. Integration is where the real work begins. In this episode: • What Tanzania and the Maasai taught Silvia about simplicity and actually living • Austria’s culture of perfectionism versus Tanzania’s “pole-pole” approach • Why more choice, possessions, and achievement do not necessarily create more happiness • Silvia’s experience with depression and feeling that something was missing • Her profound psychedelic experiences and what she believes they revealed to her • Why Silvia says “You are not your thoughts” • What happens when the old version of you no longer fits • Why profound experiences still require integration afterward • How the Talker tries to pull us back toward familiar patterns One of Silvia’s central realizations is simple: You are not your thoughts. You are not your emotions. And when we begin to see that clearly, there may be much more freedom available than the Talker would have us believe. About Silvia Resnik Silvia Resnik is the founder of Simple Life Journey and After Awakening. Through her work, Silvia supports people navigating personal transformation, spiritual awakening, identity shifts, and the uncomfortable in-between period when an old way of living no longer feels right but the new path has not fully formed yet. Her work combines coaching and guidance with themes of self-discovery, authenticity, nervous-system regulation, spiritual integration, and lessons she has gathered through her deep connection with Tanzania and the Maasai community. Through Simple Life Journey, Silvia describes her approach as bringing together modern coaching with Maasai-inspired wisdom around authentic living, simplicity, connection, and purpose. Her work also includes transformative travel in Tanzania and the EmpowerHer initiative supporting Maasai women and children. #47 How Your Breath Can Quiet the Voice in Your Head | Belén Montefalcone

What if the answer to a loud mind isn’t fighting it harder — but learning how to breathe differently? In Episode 47 of Mind Triumph, Aleks sits down with yoga, breath-work, and meditation instructor Belén Montefalcone for a deeply grounded conversation about the inner voice, presence, healing, nature, breathwork, and what happens when we stop resisting the mind. Belén’s first message about the Talker is beautifully simple: Befriend it rather than resist it. Drawing on more than 25 years of personal practice and over 15 years of teaching, Belén explains why trying to force the mind into silence often creates even more resistance — and how the breath can become a bridge back to the body, the present moment, and a calmer relationship with ourselves. beln- The conversation also explores Belén’s own journey through autoimmune illness, her introduction to yoga and Ayurveda as a teenager, the profound experiences that eventually led her to The Art of Living Foundation, and nearly two decades of daily SKY Breath Meditation practice. Together, Aleks and Belén go beyond techniques and ask some of the deeper questions: Who is observing the voice in our head? What remains when the Talker becomes quiet? Why does fighting our thoughts often make them stronger? And what if presence isn’t somewhere we need to reach — because we’re already here? In this episode: • Why resisting the Talker can make it stronger • How breath can anchor an overactive mind • Why Belén says the mind needs effortlessness, not more force • The connection between energy, stress, and negative self-talk • How yoga and Ayurveda became part of Belén’s healing journey • Why nature can naturally quiet mental noise • What SKY Breath Meditation has taught Belén about the mind • Why chasing the present moment can actually take us away from it • The Talker’s illusion of control • How daily practice can change our response before difficult moments arrive • Why awareness creates space between ourselves and our thoughts • The relationship between love, gratitude, service, and inner peace One of the most beautiful moments comes at the very end. When Aleks asks Belén what she would say if her Talker were standing in front of her as a real person, her response isn’t anger or rejection. “I love you. You’re pretty awesome. Hey, do you want to be my best friend?”  About Belén Montefalcone Belén Montefalcone is a certified yoga, breathwork, and meditation instructor with over 25 years of personal practice and more than 15 years of teaching experience with The Art of Living Foundation and International Association for Human Values. She has facilitated programs for over 10,000 participants worldwide, working with schools, universities, corporations, first responders, veterans, and community organizations. She also teaches the Intuition Process for children and teens through the Institute of Absolute Intelligence. Belén is involved in research with the University of Toronto and the Atlas Institute for Veterans and Families on the impact of SKY Breath Meditation for PTSD and operational stress injuries. A longtime student of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, she is passionate about making ancient wisdom practical, accessible, and relevant for modern life. EP44 The Strongest People Know How to Surrender | Nahum Vizakis

What if real strength is not about fighting harder—but learning when to surrender? In this deeply personal episode of Mind Triumph, Aleks sits down with author, combat veteran, bodybuilder, and Spiritual Bodybuilding creator Nahum Vizakis for an honest conversation about ego, identity, trauma, emotional healing, and the difficult journey back to the heart. Nahum challenges the traditional idea that surrender means weakness. He explains that fighting our fear, shadow, and emotional pain often creates even more resistance. True surrender begins when we stop trying to control everything and allow our deepest wounds to teach us. Drawing from his experiences in Iraq, bodybuilding, PTSD, depression, plant medicine, identity crises, and inner transformation, Nahum shares how the darkest chapters of his life eventually revealed a deeper purpose. At the centre of this conversation is a powerful truth: Deep inside the wound of an existential crisis may be a spiritual gift that can only be discovered by moving through it. In this episode: • Why surrender is one of the deepest forms of strength • The difference between a healthy ego and an unhealthy ego • How the victim, wounded child, saboteur, and other shadow patterns shape our lives • Why suffering often forces us to confront what we have been avoiding • What an existential crisis actually feels like • How combat changed Nahum’s relationship with death, identity, and purpose • Why external validation can become an addiction • How bodybuilding can either support healing or disguise emotional pain • The danger of building the body while neglecting the heart • Why comparison disappears when we become fully present • How unresolved emotions can remain stored in the body • The relationship between breathwork, the nervous system, and grounding • How to turn physical training into meditation rather than punishment • Why your triggers may be some of your greatest teachers • What becomes possible when you stop fighting your shadow and begin loving it About Nahum Vizakis Nahum Vizakis is an author, combat veteran, bodybuilder, and the creator of Spiritual Bodybuilding, an approach that connects physical development with emotional healing, self-awareness, biohacking, and spiritual transformation. His journey has taken him through military service, bomb disposal work in Iraq, PTSD, depression, bodybuilding, addiction, identity crises, plant medicine, and years of deep inner work. Through his books and teachings, including The Indigo Flame and The Biohacker’s Guide to Spiritual Bodybuilding, Nahum explores how the body can become more than something we train—it can become a path toward presence, emotional maturity, and self-mastery.
