looking into people's windows - a sound collage by nate schmold

Nate Schmold

"looking into people’s windows" is an abstract audio podcast devoted to exploring minuscule moments, fragments of a story and frozen vignettes told through sound. Imagine strolling through a busy neighbourhood at night. Mysterious lives spill out from windows as muted light filters through rippling curtains. TV screens flicker and project misshapen shadows across unfamiliar walls. Celebrations and obligations keep focus sharp behind the glass as indiscernible silhouettes dance to a silent rhythm. These sound fragments attempt to capture the memories of these human moments before they are lost to the next day’s hustle.

0067: laying on his back staring up at the clouds while blood rushes in his ears

so many things happening off the computer. art shows and music performances and pet mutants and galleries and family trips and community workshops and summertime lounging and, and, and.... ...and I released "looking into people's windows" as an album on streaming services, comprised of a handful of my fav tracks from the podcast. Well it came out, and I received such wonderful feedback from it. People saying they really enjoyed it, nice reviews, it even reached #1 on the CJSW (Calgary) top 30 a couple weeks ago, and is still #1 on the experimental chart even this week. Im so grateful to everyone who checked it out and supported ❤️ what makes me really excited is that it wasnt even HALF of the stuff i wrote while i was cooking up the podcast daily! i re-listened to some of the later stuff and I think it's EVEN BETTER than the stuff i released on the album! I miss the outlet of posting audio, so I'm going to try to get back to it, just starting light with experimentation / practice sessions and i dont want to make lofty promises about the frequency but ive been feeling inspired again and have been recording stuff even the past week and thought to myself tonight.... why the frickin hell aren't you posting it you silly goose? so here it is. 😊 Hope you're having a rad summer my friends! love nate. looking into people’s windows is an abstract audio podcast devoted to exploring small stories told with sound.
