Episode 15 | Our Show Has Gone to the Dogs: Sharing Christ Through Therapy Dogs

What if the key to sharing the gospel with a lonely neighbor has four legs and a wagging tail? In this episode of Cultural Connections, we sit down with Lesley and Terri  from Doggie Disciples and the real star of the show, Cheyenne, to talk about how certified therapy dogs are being used to reach people in assisted living, memory care, hospitals, and more. It started with a simple question at the Awakenings Conference: what is the greatest need in our community? The answer was loneliness. Doggie Disciples was born by pairing that need with something dogs do naturally, break the ice, build trust, and open the door for real human connection and for Christ. 🔹 In this episode: • Why Mark 16:15 ("preach the gospel to every creature") sparked this ministry • How Doggie Disciples began and why loneliness was the catalyst • "We don't go in presenting Jesus necessarily but we know Jesus is present" • Why therapy dogs are a bridge into gospel conversations • The science of touch: oxytocin, mirror neurons, and why petting a dog matters • Powerful stories from memory care and assisted living visits • How Cheyenne and other pups helps calm patients even during medical care • National certification, insurance, and how to get your dog involved • How churches can partner or launch their own chapter 🐾 Learn more & apply: https://doggiedisciples.com ⏱ Chapters (welcome @ 0:26): 0:26 Welcome: Cultural Connections Ep. 15 0:34 Meet Lesley, Terri & Cheyenne (Doggie Disciples) 0:51 "Preach the gospel to every creature" 1:36 Pastor's visit to assisted living / memory care 2:01 How Doggie Disciples got started 3:13 Awakenings Conference & loneliness 3:39 Founding Doggie Disciples 4:26 Jesus is present, every visit is a God moment 4:40 Praying before each visit 4:58 When Cheyenne puts on the vest 5:32 Cheyenne's cards & sharing God's Word 5:52 Dogs as a bridge to the gospel 6:21 Why we love dogs / man's best friend 8:24 Touch, oxytocin & mirror neurons 9:48 "I feel like I'm looking at the face of God" 10:05 Fruits of the Spirit in a dog 10:37 The woman who had never spoken 13:24 Cheyenne soothes patients during care 16:25 Who fits this ministry? / the working vest 16:51 National pet therapy certification 17:25 How to apply (meet & greet → evaluation) 19:46 Can an anxious dog serve? 21:46 God redeems our affections, use what you love 22:53 Growing chapters nationwide (launched Nov 2025) 23:34 Hospital therapy dog story 24:13 doggiedisciples.com 25:23 G-O-D / D-O-G 26:23 Closing 📖 Key verse: Mark 16:15 "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." 🎙 Cultural Connections Honest conversations about faith, family, and culture from Calvary Church. 👉@CulturalConnectionsPodcast 👉 calbaptist.net 👉 Previous episode: https://youtu.be/9IJwMIIXoxM #DoggieDisciples #TherapyDogs #ChristianMissions #CulturalConnections #CalvaryChurch #PetTherapy #Loneliness #Gospel #FaithAndFamily #MemoryCare

Episode 13 | Grace-Based Parenting: 5 Biblical Ways to Lead Your Kids Without Guilt or Fear

Grace-based parenting isn't soft parenting — it's parenting that starts with God's grace in you, then flows to your children through clear boundaries, open relationship, and redemptive discipline. In this episode of Cultural Connections, we talk honestly about raising four kids (ages 15–21), what we've learned along the way, and how grace from Christ — not guilt or fear — should shape the way we parent. Whether you're parenting toddlers, teens, or somewhere in between, this conversation is for parents who want to honor the Lord at home and lead with both truth and mercy. 🔹 In this episode: • What grace-based parenting actually means • Why you can't give grace you haven't received from God • Saving, sanctifying, and sustaining grace — and why each matters • Why boundaries are about clarity, not control • 5 practical ways to restore relationship when your child sins:   1. Address the heart, not just behavior   2. Keep the relationship open   3. Distinguish identity from failure   4. Model repentance personally   5. Episode 10 | "Disclosure Isn't Coming, We're Already In It" | Aliens, Demons & The Garden of Eden

Disclosure isn’t something that’s coming someday we’re already living in it. In this deep and eye-opening conversation, Joel from The Soul Trap joins Cultural Connections to explain why what the world calls “disclosure” is actually a slow, deliberate conditioning of humanity. We explore the spiritual reality behind aliens, the Double Slit Experiment and the observer effect, the Garden of Eden, gateways, and why the Bible has been warning us about this deception from the beginning. Joel breaks down how trauma, technology, and culture are being used to open doors to the spirit realm and how an external “alien” threat could be used to unite the world under something that looks like salvation… but leads to something far darker. In this episode we discuss: - Why we are already in disclosure (zeitgeist infusion & normalization) - The Double Slit Experiment and observational reality - The Garden of Eden, the veil, and dimensional gateways - Aliens, demons, and Genesis 6 - Ronald Reagan’s warning about an alien threat uniting the world - Pope Francis and the push to welcome “Martians” - The difference between Disclosure and Arrival - How the enemy is preparing the world for a false messiah This conversation will challenge how you see current events, quantum physics, and what’s coming next. ⏱ Timestamps: 00:00 – We Are Already In Disclosure 04:41 – Normalization Is Disclosure 07:27 – Francis Crick, Panspermia & The False Unity 15:17 – Do You Believe in Aliens? 20:17 – Disclosure vs Arrival 23:00 – Pope Francis on Baptizing Martians 24:30 – Ronald Reagan’s Alien Threat Warning 30:42 – The Bible Is the Most Paranormal Book 40:22 – The Garden of Eden & The Veil 45:09 – We Brought This On Ourselves 52:52 – Living in Disclosure, Waiting for Arrival Connect with Joel: → The Soul Trap Podcast @TheSoulTrap on YouTube If this opened your eyes, like, comment, and subscribe for more biblical conversations on culture, deception, and end-times discernment. #Disclosure #Aliens #Demons #GardenOfEden #DoubleSlitExperiment #EndTimes #CulturalConnections #BibleProphecy #SpiritualWarfare #Genesis6
