Now Playing - The Movie Review Podcast

If you want a podcast that will point out all the details, explain everything you were confused about, and to give great reviews and comments about some of your favourite movies then this would be a great podcast for you. I’ve listened to these for years but was a little late to the party. Makes a great entertainment while running or working. I used to talk to myself a lot since I work alone but this was a great solution.

Listened to three episodes and couldn’t handle how sexist and racist it was. Especially in the Charlie’s Angel’s episode, where they barely acknowledge Bill Murray’s history of abuse, and then side with him against Lucy Liu, while also calling her “the ugly one” who “can’t act.” Frankly, a disgusting way to talk about a well liked and established Asian American actress. I dread to think how this podcast talks about other actresses. There are many film and tv criticism podcasts, I’d recommend picking another one. Chances are whatever you find will feature more maturity and insight than this frat house approach to film criticism.

I cancelled my subscritption ages ago and these guys keep charging my credit card months afterwards. Disgusting

I've been a listener of Now Playing Podcast since 2014. I came across them at random after seeing Guardians of the Galaxy in the theater. I didn't immediately love the show, but I did love their format for the discussion and I thought they had a good conversation. So I checked out some of their other shows over the next year or so, and now 7 years later I've watched hundreds of films just so I can listen to more of their shows, and I actively watch along with their selections, even on franchises I had no interest in, or have to suffer through because there are so many bad entries. Their coverage is so entertaining, it makes watching terrible movies worth it. They cover an extremely wide variety of films, balancing mainstream hollywood hits, classics of various genres, as well as looking at some obscure oddities. Their patreon feed has opened the doors from their limitation of mainly covering franchises, meaning that their film selection is actually now at the best it's ever been. Highly highly endorse this podcast.
