When a crime ends in a conviction, the victims or their families are often allowed to give a statement to the court about the impact of the crime on their lives. But when these life altering events go unsolved, do not end in a conviction, or aren’t crimes at all, the victims and their families do not have this opportunity. The stories on this podcast are their Impact Statements.

    One Woman's #MeToo Story

    One Woman's #MeToo Story

When Brook was 16 years old, she was raped by an acquaintance who had been harassing her for several months.

Brook spent her mid-20s dealing with the long term effects of the assault and she had made huge strides in healing from the trauma. But then in September 2018, one woman’s accusations of sexual assault against a powerful man turned social media into a debate over the believability of people who come forward decades later. And this debate triggered Brook’s past trauma, and she decided now to deal with it in a way she has never done before. This story you are about to hear has been heard by only 5 or 6 people in the last 25 years.

Give me more!

I rarely start a podcast and listen to everything that is available within a few days. This is well done and gives an interesting highlight on the victims families.

Not easy but necessary

Thank you for sharing Rehtaeh’s horrible story. It’s not an easy one to hear not to tell but so necessary. Rehtaeh cannot be forgotten. What happened to her must not be lived again by any other girl or boy.

Sounds like a news broadcaster talking

I really love the idea of this podcast, what a cool premise to allow those who didn’t get to speak their feelings the opportunity to do so. I can imagine this podcast will help so many feel even just a touch better. The host tends to sound like she’s giving the 6 o’clock news, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing- for me personally it makes it difficult to get TOO into the material I’m listening to. When the phone interviews take place, it’s super hard to get a clear understanding of what they’re saying simply because it’s very muffled. Great potential!
