Where Should We Begin? with Esther Perel

As someone who has children and has been through a lot of ups and downs in my relationship, I can tell you that the husband in this podcast seems very self involved. Having children doesn’t improve things in a relationship, it makes it harder and more complicated. There is a possibility is that he falls so deeply in love with his child that he doesn’t want to be away more but if not it could be very difficult for the wife in this situation.

This podcast made me realize that communicating and listening are skills that constantly need to be worked on. I’ve spent way too long stuck in my own thoughts and I wonder how much I’ve missed because I wasn’t really listening.

Well, I have listened with interest and always enjoyed this podcast for a little while now, but recently you rebroadcasted episode one- apparently I hadn’t heard it before- and within the dialogue I heard my exact frustrations, my relationship dynamics and essentially what is in my heart, all clearly mapped out, an intensely personal experience which reinforced that I am not alone in the world. Where should we begin is such an important podcast for everyone who wants to explore all kinds of relationships and deepen understanding and empathy, but it also explores such breadth of relationship dynamics that eventually it will hit on a case study that will resonate with you- and that you can learn from in a very practical way. Please continue to do those rebroadcasts of early episodes, you never know what you might have missed!

She’s such a wonderful therapist. I’m listening to her work with these couples I find I’m learning so much that I can apply to my own experience. Feels like free, good quality therapy.
