I like the debates however I wish there were more time to elaborate on ideas, and more time for discussion and arguments between debaters

The show often features guests with only slight differences of opinion, especially when tackling foreign policy topics. Instead of fostering truly open and diverse debate, it reinforces the limited perspectives we already receive from Western media. A prime example was a recent episode discussing whether Israel should bomb Iran. The debate featured two positions: one arguing in favor of bombing, and the other advocating bombing but avoiding nuclear sites. The most critical perspective — the possibility of not bombing at all — was glaringly absent. This lack of real dissent prevents the show from offering the robust, wide-ranging discourse it claims to provide. For listeners seeking genuinely alternative viewpoints or a break from mainstream narratives, Open to Debate may feel like an echo chamber rather than a platform for real discussion.

The quality of debates and the speakers has been getting more and more mediocre since the rebrand to “Open to Debate”
