“This was our neighbourhood” is a locative sound walk through a small area that straddles Kirkendall and Durand. Participants will need earbuds and a smartphone with internet access in order to experience this web-based locative sound walk. During the walk you will use your smartphone to listen to GPS-enabled narrative and soundscape retellings of real and imagined histories of this little pocket of Hamilton. This sound walk is part of an ongoing research and creative practice that explores “Augmented Aurality” and “Sonic Cartography” hybrid listening experiences that engage the listener in a kind of “sonic placemaking” as they inhabit story spaces.
