Millions Removed From the Voter Rolls. Are You Still Registered? | Angela Rye SoloPod

Millions of voter registrations have been removed from the rolls in Florida and South Carolina since 2022. In Florida, more than 2.3 million registrations were removed between 2022 and July 2026. In South Carolina, nearly 1.2 million registrations were removed between 2022 and 2025.   We’ll be joined by Chanae Jackson, Organizing Director for Florida For All, to discuss voter-roll removals in Florida and South Carolina, and what voters should know about maintaining their registration.   Christina Cue from the ACLU also joins us to discuss the voter-roll purges in South Carolina.   And we’ll be joined by Congressman Bennie Thompson, Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus Institute, to discuss the CBC Institute’s Go Vote Initiative and its efforts to increase voter engagement and participation. Who is Telling the Truth about 9/11? Mamdani v. Giuliani

9/11’s 25th anniversary should be about the victims, their families, and reflecting on an event that altered the course of our history.    Of course, Trump is using the anniversary to aggrandize himself, and Republicans–especially former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani–are furious at NYC’s current mayor Mamdani for attending the 9/11 memorial because Mamdani is muslim.    Mamdani just released a report showing that NYC officials lied about how many toxins were left in the air following the collapse of the twin towers, toxins which killed thousands of people. No wonder Giuliani is so mad.     Join hosts Angela Rye and Bakari Sellers for episode 148 of Native Land Pod. We are 54 days away from the midterm elections. Welcome home y’all!    FYSA HEADLINES   –The White House has released a series of arcade games, including one called “Rio Run” where you play as a border patrol agent and collect migrants.   –Confusion over what electoral map Missouri will use just weeks before ballots go out.    –A Missouri state rep nominee plots to plant cocaine on his Democratic opponent.    –GOP officials in Oklahoma have been paying state prisoners $2 an hour to make calls on behalf of a Republican PAC, the Make Liberty Win PAC.    –A Black woman who fatally shot a white man in a North Lauderdale Walmart parking lot this Summer will not have files charged against her due to “Stand your ground” immunity.   –A woman brings a great dane as a “service animal” onto an airplane. If the Disrespect is Public, Should the Response Be Too? | Angela Rye SoloPod

Rula Jebreal, Palestinian activist, called Rep. Hakeem Jeffries an "AIPAC Monkey" on a podcast. Rula is a woman of color who apologized profusely, but when you say "monkey," everything else you say afterward can't be heard. Author and journalist, Michael Harriot, tells us what to do when allies trip up.    Before we get to Michael: BET Digital has deleted their archive of articles--years worth of reporting gone forever. Was Bakari Wrong About Angie Nixon? | NLP Replay

Our host Bakari went viral last week for comments he made about Angie Nixon. Are these content creators twisting Bakari’s words to fit their narrative? Or does our host need to be checked? Should Bipartisan Politics Die? | MiniPod

Apparently, we’re The Ops for supporting bipartisan politics...   On last week’s show, NLP defended House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries after he met with Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner. As a leader, you have to talk to the other side.    Many of y’all were calling NLP “bought and sold,” “AIPAC,” etc., and others had more serious critiques. We’ll respond to all.    Join hosts Angela Rye and Bakari Sellers for a conversation about political tactics and bi-partisanship.  LINKS & RESOURCES   DCCC Frontline Program: https://dccc.org/dccc-announces-members-of-2026-frontline-program/ SUBMIT A QUESTION   If you’d like to submit a question, check out our tutorial video: http://www.instagram.com/reel/C5j_oBXLIg0/ and send to @nativelandpod.    Welcome home y’all!    —--------- We want to hear from you!
