  1. EPISODE 1

'Little Songs' and "Living against the odds"

Northerned is back! Beatrice, Tanya and Laurel return to the round table to catch up for an in-depth review of Beatrice’s recent Inuktitut Children's album release. We also learn about "Trust" in parent/child relationships. a Magnificent Mullet. and what is means to be "against the odds". More on the children's album: Released in Nov of 2024, Beatrice's children's album, Innginguarutiit (Little Songs), serves as an important piece of the oral history of the Inuk people. It’s important to share these songs with the young children, to help connect them to their heritage and keep these traditional songs alive. None of this would be possible without Evie Mark’s book, Irqanartuqutiit (Memorabilia), which was created for the curriculum of the Kativik IIisarniliriniq school board. Thank you, Evie and the Kativik IIisarniliriniq school board! And especially to Esuma for making it ALL HAPPEN! It was very special to have the students from the Nunavik Sivunitsavut school choir participate in the recording. Such a beautiful opportunity to collaborate and share these songs and stories with them.
