    24: Delirium and Disney

Cheers! Episode 24 begins with Cliff proudly bringing along one of Belgium’s most famous beers — Delirium Tremens, the legendary strong pale ale known for its distinctive pink elephant logo. Before even getting to the tasting notes, Pete and Cliff find themselves wrestling with the pronunciation of Huyghe Brewery, which proves far trickier than expected. Once the linguistic gymnastics are over, the beer itself lives up to its reputation: strong, fruity, slightly spicy and dangerously drinkable for a beer with such a serious ABV. The discussion naturally drifts into Belgium’s long brewing heritage, the rise of Trappist and abbey-style beers, and why Belgian brewing traditions have influenced craft brewers around the world. Pete and Cliff also discuss the surprisingly good food pairings that go with strong Belgian ales — cheese boards, seafood, roast chicken and even rich desserts. With the beer flowing, the lads move into the main event: Top 10 Disney Movies of All Time. What begins as a nostalgic trip through childhood favourites quickly becomes a heated debate about animation, storytelling and musical numbers. Classics such as The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Frozen and Toy Story all come under scrutiny as Pete and Cliff argue about which films truly deserve a place in Disney history. They also reflect on how Disney evolved from hand-drawn animation classics into one of the most powerful entertainment studios in the world. This episode also introduces a brand new segment: “Hoppy to Meet You!” — the show’s listener feedback corner. Pete and Cliff read out messages and comments from listeners around the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom and Ghana. Listeners share their thoughts on previous episodes, offer their own beer suggestions and challenge the hosts’ opinions on everything from gaming to movies. Later in the show the conversation takes a thoughtful turn as Pete and Cliff debate the reliability of artificial intelligence. With AI tools becoming increasingly common in everyday life — from writing and research to news and entertainment — the hosts discuss whether we should trust the technology completely or remain sceptical of its occasional confident mistakes. The discussion moves between humour and philosophy as they explore how AI might shape the future of media, creativity and information. Finally, the episode wraps up in classic Pints of View fashion with another Dad Joke-Off, where terrible puns compete for the biggest groan from the audience. Episode Highlights Cliff brings Delirium Tremens from Huyghe Brewery — and struggles to pronounce it. Top 10 Disney movies debate packed with nostalgia and strong opinions. New listener segment “Hoppy to Meet You!” featuring messages from the US, UK and Ghana. Pete and Cliff discuss whether artificial intelligence can really be trusted. 23: Chimay your Games!

Episode 23 begins in appropriately monastic style as Pete arrives with one of the most revered beers in the world — Chimay, the famous Trappist brew made at Scourmont Abbey. Brewed by monks since 1966, Chimay represents one of the great traditions of Belgian brewing: rich, complex beer made to support the monastery and its charitable work. Pete and Cliff explore the flavours of the blonde Chimay, its slightly fruity, malty character and why Trappist beers are often regarded as some of the finest in the world. Naturally the conversation drifts into ideal food pairings — cheese, mussels, roast chicken — and whether Belgian beer might actually be the perfect companion for a long gaming session. With glasses filled, the lads dive into the Top 10 Best-Selling Computer Games of All Time, a list guaranteed to provoke arguments between console loyalists, PC traditionalists and anyone who still insists Tetris is the greatest game ever made. Massive franchises dominate the conversation: Grand Theft Auto V, Minecraft, Wii Sports, and PUBG: Battlegrounds all make appearances. The hosts reflect on how gaming has evolved from simple arcade puzzles to cinematic open worlds like Red Dead Redemption 2 and sprawling fantasy epics like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Of course, the list sparks nostalgia: memories of Pokémon Red and Blue, the cultural phenomenon of Guitar Hero, and the golden age of military shooters like Call of Duty and Medal of Honor, many of which drew inspiration from films such as Saving Private Ryan. Nintendo’s enduring magic also enters the discussion with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and the role of consoles like the Nintendo Switch in keeping gaming social. The episode then veers delightfully into the strange with a conversation about UFO disclosure and whether governments might finally reveal more about unexplained aerial phenomena — now more formally known as UAPs. Pete and Cliff speculate on what disclosure might look like, whether humanity is ready for it, and whether the answer is likely to be as absurd as something from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Finally, the mood turns optimistic with discussion of green energy progress around the world — from expanding renewable infrastructure to encouraging innovations in sustainable manufacturing and design (including companies like IKEA investing heavily in renewables). Amid all the noise of global politics and conflict, Pete and Cliff highlight the encouraging signs that the transition to cleaner energy might actually be accelerating. Episode Highlights Pete brings Chimay — legendary Trappist beer brewed by monks since 1966. Top 10 best-selling video games ever — from Minecraft to GTA. Nostalgia for classic gaming franchises and consoles. Speculation on UFO disclosure and UAP reports. A surprisingly hopeful discussion on the rise of green energy. 22: Singha Rocks USA

Singha — Cliff brings the Thai classic and we open with a proper tasting: crisp, golden and stadium-ready. The beer loosens tongues — which is handy, because this episode gets unexpectedly honest and a little messy. Headline debates: we kick off with the fallout and wider conversation around the recent BAFTA Tourette’s incident and the reactions it provoked across media, comedy and disability advocacy. We try to be fair, to separate joke from harm, and to ask whether public broadcasters and award shows know how to respond when a live moment goes bad. Alongside that we take a clear-eyed look at gambling culture — from poker tables to app-driven micro-bets, the social costs, and why the industry’s scale deserves scrutiny rather than shrugging. Then — the thing everyone came for — we argue the Top 10 rock bands of all time (our studio picks, passionate complaints allowed). Expect loud defences, historical detours, and a few improbable crossover case-arguments. Bands that get airtime include giants like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Metallica, AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, U2, and a few sun-drenched curveballs like The Beach Boys. Expect arguments over legacy vs influence, guitar solos vs songwriting, and whether chart success should beat cultural disruption. This episode gets personal: Pete and Cliff open up about their own struggles with addictive behaviour — gambling, gaming, or other hooks — in a candid, non-sensational way. They talk about what helped them, what still worries them, and why shame is the worst company to recover with. Content warning: we discuss addiction and recovery; emotional listeners may prefer a heads-up before tuning in. Other detours include comedy and celebrity reaction (we mention public responses from figures such as Jamie Foxx and Alan Cumming in passing), the rise of betting apps and Polymarket-style speculation cultures, and why Succession-style media empires make the gambling-industrial complex look subtle by comparison. We finish with the usual dad-joke mercy. Highlights: Singha tasting: Thai classic, crowd-pleaser. BAFTA Tourette’s incident: measured discussion on reaction, comedy and responsibility. Top 10 rock bands: loud, unresolvable, brilliant arguments. Personal segment: Pete & Cliff speak honestly about addiction and recovery. Gambling deep-dive: from poker to app micro-bets — why scale matters. Content warning: discussion of addiction and Tourette’s-related controversy included. We tried to be funny, frank and useful. If you or someone you know needs help with addiction, we list resources in the episode notes. Pour a Singha (or water), listen with care, and if you’ve got a favourite rock defence or a recovery story, send it our way. 21: Life or 12% Quad IPA?

This episode begins with good intentions and very strong beer. Pete arrives carrying a mystery high-ABV brew intended to be the week’s headline pour — but after one suspicious sip the lads look at each other like crime-scene investigators and quietly abandon the bottle on the table. Panic? A little. Shame? Slight. But Pete executes a flawless rescue mission to the nearest shop and comes back with two bottles of Qingdao, which promptly saves the night. The moral: sometimes the safest beer is the one you can trust to behave. With pints back in hand we launch into a full-throated debate about the Top 10 Most-Watched Sports in the World — a studio list built from TV reach, global participation and plain pub-argument power. Football (soccer) unsurprisingly dominates, but we argue hard for cricket’s global TV spikes, basketball’s global growth, tennis’s big-event appeal and the power of combat sports and athletics. Numbers are messy, fandom is messy, and the shouting is not. The mood turns thoughtful when we lament two things that feel quietly gone: regional accents and the British high street. We argue about why accents are flattening (national media, mobility, social media), whether losing an accent is gain or loss, and how the high street was hollowed out — chains, online shopping, and the slow death of the corner bookshop. This gets sentimental, slightly teary and unavoidably nostalgic. Finally, we premiere a new feature, “What if?” — a small, mischievous segment of alternate-histories and speculative questions designed to set the hosts off on flights of fancy. Highlights: Pete’s strong beer plan fails after one sip. Qingdao rescues the show. Top 10 most-watched sports: global arguments, local passion. A melancholic but lively debate about accents and the death of the high street. The debut of “What if?” — an invitation to chaos. Pour yourself a Qingdao (or whatever you trust), settle in and bring your hot takes — you’ll want to argue along. Enjoyed the chaos? 20: A Real Erdinger

What happens when a beer podcast accidentally goes dry? Episode 20 delivers our most surprising twist yet as Cliff proudly turns up with Erdinger Alkohol-Frei — yes, alcohol free — and unknowingly launches the first sober show in POV history. Panic? Not quite. What follows is genuine shock as both Cliff and Pete discover just how close this German wheat beer is to the real deal. Crisp, refreshing, isotonic, and dangerously convincing, it sparks a wider conversation about the meteoric rise of premium alcohol-free brewing and whether the stigma is officially over. First ever dry episode — completely by accident.Erdinger Alkohol-Frei shocks us with how good it is.Is alcohol-free beer finally world-class? With heads clear and taste buds intact, the boys dive into a huge cultural debate: Top 10 Fictional Characters Since 1900. From literary giants to movie legends, TV anti-heroes to comic book icons, the arguments fly. Do cultural impact and longevity matter more than moral fibre? Is a villain more compelling than a hero? And can a cartoon character outrank a Nobel Prize-winning literary creation? Expect passionate defences, controversial omissions, and at least one character that should never have made the shortlist. Heroes vs villains.Literature vs cinema vs television.Who truly defines modern storytelling? As if that wasn’t enough, Cliff opens a bag of Burts crisps, triggering an unexpectedly fiery global snack debate. Why does the UK love prawn cocktail? Why are American chips obsessed with ranch? Why does Europe get paprika supremacy? And who decided salt & vinegar should hurt? From Japan’s seaweed flavours to Canada’s ketchup obsession, the crisp conversation spirals into a surprisingly deep cultural analysis of what our snack preferences say about us. The great crisp vs chip flavour showdown.Salt & Vinegar: culinary genius or chemical warfare?Paprika supremacy? Ranch rebellion? Of course, no episode would be complete without the return of the legendary Dad Joke-Off, where dignity is sacrificed in the name of terrible puns. Groans are guaranteed. Apologies are not. And we close in glorious fashion with the debut of the Erdinger Reggaeton Anthem — because nothing says alcohol-free Bavarian wheat beer like Latin club energy. Sober. Surprising. Snack-fuelled. And still slightly chaotic. Press play. 19: Hazers Gonna Haze

This week Pete turns up with 4 bottles of Hazers Gonna Haze from Belching Beaver Brewery (San Diego) and the studio instantly goes soft, juicy and very opinionated (don't miss the playout song). We open with a proper tasting — pillowy haze, tropical fruit notes and a surprisingly polite finish — then use that mellow haze as fuel for three loud conversations: our studio Top 10 sportspeople of the 21st century, the thorny reality of over-tourism, and a spicy showdown on whether some foods are legitimately too hot for human consumption. The Top 10 debate is equal parts stats and shouting: Federer, Nadal, Messi, Ronaldo, Serena, Phelps, Bolt, Tiger, LeBron and Simone each get their moment in the ring as we argue medals vs moments vs cultural reach. We don’t shy from the awkward conversations either — scandals, tragic losses and the way off-field behaviour changes how we remember greatness all make it into the mix. Expect furious defence of club legends, nostalgic detours to ESPN-era icons, and a few hot takes you’ll want to tweet. From trophies to travel, we pivot into over-tourism: Barcelona, Boracay, Bali, Prague and the way TV shows, short-term rentals and Instagram-ready moments turbo-charge destinations until locals beg for mercy. We weigh practical fixes (tourist taxes, caps, dispersal and ecotourism) against the real economic lifelines tourism provides — and share practical tips for listeners who want to be better travellers, not just louder ones. Then, because we like pain, we taste-test the idea that some food is simply too spicy — pizza, hot dogs, Guilin street eats and the classic Thai/Indonesian spice wars — and judge who survives (and who orders milk stout immediately afterwards). Finally, the episode finishes on a ridiculous, joyful note: the very first Beaver Brewery Anthem — our beer-devoted play-out song. It’s ridiculous, it’s catchy, and yes, it’s the perfect soundtrack for a hazy debate about Messi vs Ronaldo or whether you should ever order “extra hot.” Pour a Hazers, press play and argue with us — then DM your spicy-food horror story, vote on your Top 10, and tell us which destination you think is most overdue for a tourism reboot. 18: Laker Red & Betrayal

Cliff touches down with a crate of Laker Red (Waterloo Brewing link below) and we immediately turn to treachery — specifically, cinematic treachery. Episode 18 is built around our Top 10 movie betrayals of all time: the scenes that hit you in the gut, rearrange your loyalties and leave you shouting at the screen. From Fredo in The Godfather Part II to HAL’s cold logic in 2001: A Space Odyssey, we unpack why those moments still sting decades later. The second half of the show gets real-world big: Pete and Cliff go head-to-head on the future of AI — jobs, dignity, and whether automation is a liberation or a slow erosion of purpose. Expect practical points (robot surgeons, driverless trucks, algorithmic hiring) and philosophical ones (what work means, whether Universal Basic Income is an insurance policy for dignity, and the nightmare-and-dream versions of an AI-run world). We refuse Skynet fatalism but also don’t hand-wave the disruption. Of course, we keep it Pints of View: there’s a Scumbag of the Week, a Warhammer-shaped detour, a salute to Sean Bean’s improbable betrayal roster, and a dad-joke finale that will make you groan and forgive us anyway. Don’t miss the play-out song — a thoughtful, slightly melancholy send-off that somehow pairs perfectly with caramel malt and moral outrage. 17: Brothers Beer & Bangs

Pete flew in the Kiwi vibes with Pilsner Hops from Brothers Brewery (Auckland) and we used that crisp, floral session pour to open a big conversation about print, power and passing your test. Our main game: a friendly — and very subjective — Top 10 of the best-selling books in history. We aren’t claiming an academic list; these are the works that landed in people’s hands the most, inspired riffing in pubs and classrooms, and show how stories travel: sacred texts (the Bible, the Quran, the Torah), ancient strategy (Sun Tzu — The Art of War), revolutionary manifestos (Marx & Engels — Communist Manifesto, Mao’s Little Red Book), and modern global blockbusters (J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Agatha Christie, Charles Dickens). From there we veered into the uniquely modern: how society tests competence (the UK driving test, learner-driver culture, and the ugly bits — cheating, dangerous behaviour and the real human cost when people don’t actually learn to drive safely), and toward the horizon: driverless cars, tramsleeper fantasies and whether automation will ever make the driving-test debate irrelevant. We also digest Mark Carney’s Davos speech — his economic and climate framing — and argue about what central bankers can (and can’t) fix. Does money steer climate action? Should it? Expect punchy takes, a little economic scepticism, and a few Brexit-era flashbacks. And because no episode is complete without frivolity, we drop into pop-culture corners — Lord of the Rings references, Warhammer hobby shops, Harry Potter mania and the way big books spawn big communities — before finishing on something everyone can agree on: terrible dad jokes. Pete and Cliff duel for dad-joke supremacy, and you decide who (if anyone) wins. If your idea of heaven is a quiet pub, a good book, and a beer from a brewery you can’t quite pronounce, Episode 17 has something for you. Pour a Pilsner Hops, buckle your seatbelt (metaphorically), and enjoy.
