097: Overcoming Awkward Conversations, Building Real Friendships

Most Christians struggle to share their faith naturally — but what if evangelization could feel genuine, relatable, and even fun? In this episode Krista talks with Alyssa and Nicole as they share candid insights from their journey, revealing how authentic relationships and simple acts of kindness open hearts more powerfully than sermons or scripts. Alyssa recounts her transformation from skepticism to faith, highlighting the subtle wins — small gestures, genuine listening, and the importance of patience. Nicole shares how meeting people where they’re at, rather than pushing beliefs, creates trust and opens the door for real dialogue. You'll discover practical tips on avoiding the “weird” factor, using social media effectively, and turning everyday moments into opportunities for witness — all rooted in love rather than obligation. We break down the power of community and normalcy in young adult outreach, emphasizing how joy, camaraderie, and authentic friendship make faith appealing rather than intimidating. Alyssa and Nicole reveal how ‘living life on mission’ isn’t about grand gestures but about weaving faith into ordinary interactions — from a shared cup of coffee to a kind word, from social media posts to spontaneous acts of kindness. Why does this matter? Because many feel disconnected from church and faith, not because they’re opposed, but because they’ve encountered a church that’s “weird” or judgmental. This episode shows how a simple, genuine approach can create an inviting space where people want to ask questions, seek truth, and come home. Perfect for church leaders, youth ministers, or any believer who wants to foster authentic evangelism — this episode offers clear, actionable advice that transforms fear into confidence. Whether you’re shy or outspoken, the keys are the same: love first, meet at the level of trust, and don’t be afraid to be yourself. Because when you live out your faith with authenticity, you become a powerful witness in a noisy world that desperately needs kindness and truth. Join us to learn how everyday interactions can turn strangers into friends, and friends into disciples — and how you can be part of the harvest today. The world needs your voice, your kindness, and your witness. Are you ready to step out and make faith relatable again? 093: When Love Takes Root: Mission in the Neighbourhood with Jean Paul de Fleuriot

What happens when a family says yes to God—without knowing where it will lead? In this deeply moving and Spirit-led conversation, Eric sits down with Jean-Paul de Fleuriot, founder of Faith Room, to hear the story of how discernment, trust, and love for the poor reshaped his family’s life—and their neighbourhood. Jean-Paul shares how his family felt called to move into a poorer neighbourhood and simply begin loving people where they were, without an agenda. What started as a quiet act of obedience slowly became a visible sign of God’s presence: a garden planted in their front yard that turned into sacred ground—where neighbours stopped, talked, shared stories, and began to open their hearts. Throughout the conversation, Jean-Paul reflects on: -The slow, faithful work of discernment and learning to trust God step by step -What it looks like to truly love people in their brokenness, without trying to fix them -How small, ordinary choices can lead to real spiritual movement in a neighbourhood -The way music became a place of encounter and healing, opening hearts to God’s presence This episode is less about programs and strategies, and more about presence, obedience, and faith. It’s a powerful reminder that mission often begins quietly—right where we live—and that God delights in working through simple acts of love. Eric reflects that this conversation was deeply inspiring and personally challenging, calling him—and all of us—to greater trust, greater courage, and deeper faith in what God can do through a surrendered life. If you’ve ever wondered what mission looks like beyond parish walls—or how God might be inviting you into something new—this episode is for you. 🔗 Learn More Faith Room: https://faithroom.ca Proclaim is a movement of the Archdiocese of Vancouver inspiring disciples to proclaim Jesus in their homes and communities. 090: When You Start to Drift: Returning to the Fire of Mission

Have you ever felt your ministry energy start to fade a few months into the season? That sense of slowing down, coasting, or even drifting can happen to the best of us — but it doesn’t have to keep you stuck. In this episode, Eric shares some thought around why drift happens — the human, spiritual, and cultural forces that quietly pull us off course — and how we can return to the fire of mission. Show Notes / Key Points: Naming the Drift Feeling flat or coasting in ministry is normal. Drift happens when we stop intentionally moving toward mission. Key insight: to drift, we simply need to do… nothing. Scripture: Philippians 3:13-14 NRSV Why Drift Happens Human side: fatigue, busyness, and familiarity. Rest and relational honesty help restore energy. (Matthew 11:28-30) Spiritual side: losing connection to Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Abiding in Him is the source of fruitfulness. (John 15:4-5, Romans 8:26) Cultural side: pressure for constant growth and visible success. Trust God’s rhythms of pruning and seasons. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2, 2 Corinthians 4:16-18) Returning to the Fire of Mission Return to relationship: spend time with Jesus, remember your identity as a beloved child of God. (1 John 4:19, Ephesians 2:10) Reconnect with the Holy Spirit: pray for guidance, boldness, and renewed vision. (Acts 1:8, Galatians 5:16) Remember your why and who: focus on the people God has placed in your life and ministry. (Matthew 28:19-20, 1 Peter 3:15) Reflect on your witness: love is the first way people encounter the Gospel. Re-engage in community: ministry flourishes in shared life, prayer, and encouragement. (Hebrews 10:24-25, 1 Thessalonians 5:11) Closing Encouragement The Spirit who called you is still with you. You can fan the flame of your God-given gift for mission. (2 Timothy 1:6-7) Proclaim Team Resources: In-person trainings, workshops, and leadership summits to help leaders refocus on mission. Examples: Accompaniment Masterclass, Rescue Project support, Alpha parish sessions.
