The F-22 Raptor, manufactured by Lockheed Martin and Boeing, first took flight in 1997 and entered service with the United States Air Force in 2005. It's considered by many to be one of the best air superiority fighter jets in the world, with advanced stealth capabilities, superior aerodynamics, and cutting-edge avionics. The F-22 Raptor was developed as a replacement for the aging fleet of F-15 and F-16 fighter jets. Its design was driven by the need to counter advanced threats posed by potential adversaries, such as advanced air defense systems and highly maneuverable aircraft. The result was a fighter jet that is difficult to detect by radar and has the ability to control airspace through a combination of stealth, speed, and agility. One of the key features of the F-22 Raptor is its stealth capabilities. The aircraft's shape, materials, and sensor suite are all designed to reduce its radar signature, making it difficult for enemy radar systems to detect. This allows the F-22 to operate in hostile environments and maintain air superiority. The F-22 Raptor's aerodynamics and avionics are also top-notch. The aircraft's wings are highly swept, giving it exceptional maneuverability and allowing it to reach supersonic speeds without the use of afterburners. Its avionics suite includes an advanced electronic warfare system, a powerful radar, and a helmet-mounted display that allows the pilot to track targets with their head movements.     Episode Transcript: Welcome to the pull to eject podcast I’m your host cohen and today we will be discussing the a 10 warthog. The a10 thunderbolt 2 commonly called the warthog is a single seat attack aircraft that first started dispensing 30mm freedom in 1977 and is manufactured by m7 aerospace. The a10 boasts the gau 8 a 30 mm Gatling gun that fires depleted uranium rounds that are capable of piercing tanks the a10 is infamous for its signature. sound when firing the gau 8. The aircraft also sports over 1000 pounds of titanium armour to protect the pilot and control systems. This armour plating is capable of withstanding armour piercing rounds up to 23 mm. The Aircraft flies at a top speed of 676 kilometres and hour the reason why the a10 flies so slow compared to other jets is that it is largely meant for air to ground attack so it flys low and slow to get the best accuracy. The ejector seat used in this amazing attack aircraft is the aces 2 ejector seat which is a zero zero seat meaning it is capable of ejecting at zero altitude and zero airspeed ensuring a safe landing The seat has saved over 670 lives. The a10 warthog has served in many wars and conflicts most notably Afghanistan and Iraq in the war on terror. a10s feature both hydraulic and mechanical means to control the aircraft Incase of hydraulic failure, over 367 a10s are currently in Service in the United States airforce. The a10 warthog is credited for destroying over 900 tanks and over 2000 millitary vehicles. The a10 is largley credited for being one of the most survivable aircraft.
