    Send us Fan Mail Picture this...a high school student in Brandon, Manitoba, working as a lifeguard part-time and loving the exposure to life-saving through Red Cross training. She picks up a pamphlet about paramedicine. Yes, an actual paper pamphlet, because this was before the web - and she decides to take an emergency medical course while still in high school. One course.  One shiny fire truck.  And just like that...she found her calling. That decision launched a remarkable career spanning more than twenty-five years in the fire service.
