I’m a fan of Payton and Garrett. I think they are two of the most respectful podcasters in my HUGE true crime library, and not only of the victims and families, but of each other! Love MWMH and Binged! So I don’t find it at all surprising that I find myself waiting for my Monday and Thursday fix of Rise n Crime with Payton’s mom, Momma Julz! Absolutely love getting news on current cases, newly reported or heading to trial.
(Edit: As a long time listener, I find myself annoyed every time Momma Julz makes the statement about the American justice system not being perfect but it’s better than other countries. This is an example of Americans blindly thinking everything American is best.
No. It really isn’t.
Americans have more prisons and more incarcerated people than any other country. Your country does NOT rank anywhere near the top globally for justice systems. Denmark, Sweden, New Zealand, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Luxembourg, Ireland, Australia, Estonia, Austria, Japan, the UK, France, Spain, Uruguay, South Korea, Latvia, Czechia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Belgium, Lithuania, and my country, Canada ALL consistently rank higher on global Rule of Law metrics. The United States ranks 24th for Justice system, 42nd for Rights and Security and 34th for Government and Corruption.
So stop saying the American justice system is better than other countries.
