    Hello and welcome to episode #73 of the rose bros podcast!

    This episode we are joined by Olympic & World Cup Ski Racing coach- Johno McBride.

    Johno is perhaps best known for his time as Bode Miller’s coach during his 2002 Olympic medal performance and 2005/2008 overall World Cup victories.

    During the period, Johno also coached Daron Rahlves to 12x World Cup wins.

    In addition, Johno has coached the Canadian National Ski Team, Paralympic athletes and  different levels all the way down to the club, where he is coaching at the Aspen Valley Ski Club today.

    Originally from Aspen Colorado, Johno grew up skiing, playing hockey and enjoying the outdoors.

    We sat down for a smooth cup of rose bros coffee and discussed what it takes to win, the importance of team, the difference between US and Canadian ski racing programs, earning respect, dealing with egos, bad advice and a lot more.

    This episode we are joined by Tom Hoyne  - VP of Coffee & Quality Assurance at Kicking Horse Coffee.

    Prior to Kicking Horse Coffee, Tom co-founded Kootenay Pasta, a high end pasta company which he sold after growing tired of the demanding schedule running the business.

    Tom then joined Kicking Horse Coffee in the early 2000's, and was a key member in helping Kicking Horse lead the craft coffee revolution, and becoming a multi-million-dollar global business.

    In 2017 Kicking Horse Coffee was purchased by Italian conglomerate Lavazza and the deal valued the company at $215 million.

    We sat down for a smooth cup of coffee and discussed the importance of quality products, the origins of Kicking Horse Coffee, how to make a great cup of coffee, ignoring noise when building a business, why coffee prices are rising and a lot more.

    Lou's provides ski boot fitting services, sells high performance ski equipment, bikes and everything else in between.

    In short, Lou’s specializes in adapting ski equipment with the knowledge of Biomechanics and modern pressure/balance measuring tools to setup alpine skiers for their day on the slopes.

    Lou has also published numerous academic papers on everything from the science of boot fitting, to avalanche transceivers.

    In addition, Lou graduated from the the University of Calgary with a Masters of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Biomechanics), and the Oregon Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

    We sat down for a smooth cup of rose bros coffee and talked about Covid-19's impact on the ski industry, innovation and technology in ski equipment, learning to ski better, good books and a lot more.

    This episode we are joined by Colin Frostad - VP Exploration for Tourmaline Energy - Canada's largest natural gas producer with a market cap of ~$9 Billion, annual revenues of ~$2 Billion and annual production of approximately 400,000 boe/d.

    Colin has served as the Vice President, Exploration of Tourmaline since November 2019 and prior to that was the Exploration Manager and Senior Geologist.

    Prior to joining Tourmaline, Colin served as a Geologist at Duvernay Oil Corp until its acquisition in 2008.

    Colin holds a Master of Science (Geology) and Bachelor of Science (Geology) from the University of Calgary.

    He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of Alberta, Association  of Engineers & Geoscientists of British Columbia and the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists.
