An Espresso Martini Won’t Solve All Your Problems — But Two Might

I woke up at 5 a.m. a few weeks ago, stressed out of my mind. I couldn’t take it anymore. After selling my company and semi-retiring, I had built the perfect life, and now it was all crumbling down. My business partner was abruptly gone and I was left holding a bag full of problems I didn’t choose.  Instead of a sedate life of socializing, writing a newsletter, and taking my kids to hockey games, I was suddenly managing over a hundred employees and having to figure out how to stop hemorrhaging cash across four ventures.  I couldn’t do it… Read the full article HERE. Betrayed and Hurt But Still Barefoot

“So, if you are a barefoot open-hearted man, curiously exploring the terrain of his life and then ouch, you stepped on a rock, does that mean you pick up the rock and move it out of the way, or does it mean that you’re going to put on shoes?” “It means I’m going to watch out for rocks,” I said. “Right, because you’d rather touch the grass and the soil and the warmth and the water than cover the world in leather.” And I realized that I can say “Ouch,” move the rock out of the way and continue. The Real Meaning of Persistence: Getting Better At Quitting

You have to fail to succeed, and that’s the way it’s supposed to be. I call this the Persistence Principle — 95% of things you try will yield no advantage, but the 5% that do have a benefit, will stack. That means you can and must quit repeatedly in order to have the best results over time. Evidence of the Persistence Principle is all around us, but it is hard to master because it goes against one of the most often quoted pieces of garbage advice we hear from our parents, our teachers, and our business mentors." Quitters never win, and winners never quit" is BS. We’re taught that winners are those who make better decisions. Winners have great intuition, they make better investments, and they hire better people. Winners stick to their guns and don’t back down. Wrong. Winners are the ones who know when to quit.
