    Horror Movie Curses

    Horror Movie Curses

When you turn on a scary movie, you expect to be frightened by what you see on screen. But for these movies, what happened behind the scenes was also the stuff of nightmares. Is this the case of simple coincidence, with large casts and crews falling victim to unfortunate but common tragedies? Or, were these films cursed by their supernatural subject matter?

    The Trial of Julius Jones

    The Trial of Julius Jones

In July 1999, Paul Howell was murdered in front of his sister and two young daughters during a carjacking. When police tracked the vehicle, it led them to a gang affiliate who pointed a finger at the shooter. After a trial tainted with racial bias, under-resourced defense attorneys, and a prosecutor hell-bent on securing an execution, the defendant was sentenced to death. But for decades he proclaimed his innocence and begged for his life. Did the jury convict the right man?

The Houston Batman, Recorded Live at The Improv, Houston

You hear the sounds of wings flapping against a clear night sky. In the trees, you spot something. Unlike any bird or creature you've ever seen before, the beast makes eye contact with you then jets off into the night. It's not a bird. It's not a plane. It's the Houston Batman.

So good!

20 minutes into the first episode and I was hooked! These amazing women crack me up, and their stories are SO well researched. If you’re looking for a new podcast, I can’t recommend this one enough!

Potential but needs an editor

I'm pretty sure less than half of the 2 part episode I listened to was devoted to the story. The story itself was wild…but in their telling of it, there was never any sustained or organized narrative and it was impossible to follow. They definitely need to focus on how to tell a story. I don't mind banter at the beginning or the end or short interjections but there were extensive, boring, often self-righteous ramblings all the way through: I don't care about your child-rearing philosophy nor every church you ever went to. The hosts are likeable, apart from being a wee bit 'wine mom.' Just need a good producer/editor.
