Fortunately, The Atlantic staff writer Katherine Wu explains to James Hamblin and Maeve Higgins why these shouldn't alarm us just yet. Funny, Informative & Keeping Me Sane

I look forward to this podcast every week.
Question for Katherine and James: I would love to know more about the “gargle test” that is now being offered in Canada. Thanks!

Exceptionally relevant and articulate!

I listen to this podcast every week, and effectively “quote” from various episodes, conversations and experts to people I know. I’m probably having a conversation about the COVID-19 pandemic roughly 4-5 times a week. I’m a historian who specializes in the history of trauma, and teach a university course on the history of catastrophe - with pandemic among the historic catastrophes we examine. This podcast is exceptional in its clarity, its format, and the accessibility of information. I will be sharing episodes of the podcast with my students in my catastrophe course. I will relate here that as a historian within Trauma Studies, I - and colleagues- are building networks of scholars who are focused on studying social and political responses to the Covid-19 pandemic.
My research echoes that of others in cautioning that catastrophes (pandemics) do not have an end, at least not a full and hard “stop”. I wonder if a future episode could consider this reality, and as well if an episode could visit the potentials for PTSD as the pandemic rolls into the future?

Thank you both, Katherine and James ( I hope I have spelled (C)Katherine’s name correctly!) for this podcast.
