    Episode 6: No Longer Ashamed

Summary Episode 6 of the Solid Rocky Youth Podcast featured the Jesus story of the week (the woman caught in adultery, John 8:1–11), followed by personal faith testimonies from two youth — Emily and Jonah — centered on the theme of shame, forgiveness, and new life in Jesus. The episode closed with a prayer from Nikita and a challenge for listeners to read and reflect on John 8 throughout the week. Key Decisions / Announcements ✅ A new contest is running: listeners must submit a photo with a Solid Rock Youth leader taken outside of church/youth group (and the leader cannot be a relative). Winner announced in the final episode, photo posted on the SRY Instagram.✅ Photos to be submitted to youth@nmbc.ca✅ Weekly challenge assigned: read John 8:1–11 multiple times, praying each time for confidence in God's presence and forgiveness.✅ Free Bibles available — youth without one should see a Solid Rock Youth leader on Wednesday.Discussion Points Trivia / Icebreaker Nikita and Riley answered the question: "If you could have a Nerf battle with someone famous, who would you pick?" Riley chose Ryan Gosling; Nikita chose Tom Holland. Jesus Story of the Week — John 8:1–11 (The Woman Caught in Sin) Religious leaders brought a woman caught in adultery before Jesus to trap him. Jesus responded by inviting whoever was without sin to cast the first stone — the crowd dispersed one by one. Jesus told the woman he did not condemn her, and called her to a new life. The hosts connected the story to Romans 6:11 and framed the gospel message: Jesus doesn't ignore sin, but offers forgiveness and a fresh start rather than condemnation. Emily's Jesus Story Emily grew up in a Christian home as a pastor's kid but spent years going through the motions without a real relationship with Jesus. Carrying guilt and believing she was unforgivable, she hit her lowest point in grade seven, then cried out to Jesus and rededicated her life to him. She described transformation as an ongoing daily process — not instant healing, but sustained grace, hope, and purpose. Referenced 1 Peter 1:7 (the refiner's fire). Jonah's Jesus Story Jonah was involved in church activities throughout his life but didn't understand what God's love meant personally for him. Fear about his future led to decisions that nearly had lasting consequences for himself and others. A small group leader intervened at a key moment. Since then, Jonah has lived with less fear and greater reliance on God. He keeps the Lord's Prayer engraved on a ring as a daily reminder of God's love.

    Episode 05: A Real Funeral?

In Episode 5 of the Solid Rock Youth Podcast, Jordan and Jocelyn walk us through one of the most powerful moments in the Jesus Story, the raising of Lazarus. They kick things off with a quick look at the real story behind St. Patrick, reminding us that faith is about courage, forgiveness, and sharing Jesus, not just green hats and shamrocks. From there, they recap the journey so far and land on a huge question, what happens when Jesus doesn’t show up when we expect Him to? In John 11, Jesus arrives after Lazarus has already died. Hope feels gone. But instead of rushing past the pain, Jesus steps into it. He weeps. Then He does the impossible. This episode reminds us that Jesus isn’t distant from our struggles. He meets us in them… and He has power even over death. You’ll also hear powerful, honest faith stories from Laney and Skye, sharing what it looks like to wrestle with doubt, loss, identity, and finding your way back to Jesus. 🔑 What You’ll Hear in This Episode The real story behind St. Patrick and why it mattersA full recap of the Jesus Story so farThe raising of Lazarus in John 11Why Jesus wept, even knowing the miracle was comingTwo real youth stories about faith, struggle, and coming back to GodA challenge to trust Jesus with the hard parts of your life📖 This Week’s Challenge Read John 11 a few times this week. Episode 04: Do You Want To Be Healed?

Solid Rock Youth Podcast, Season 1 Episode 4, The Jesus Story In this episode of the Solid Rock Youth Podcast, Jocelyn and Riley continue walking through the Jesus Story series. This week, they look at the powerful moment in John 5 where Jesus heals the man at the Pool of Bethesda. After 38 years of waiting and disappointment, Jesus asks a surprising question, “Do you want to be healed?” It is a moment that challenges not just the man in the story, but every one of us today. The conversation explores how easy it can be to get comfortable explaining our struggles instead of responding to Jesus. The healing shows the authority of Christ, while the reaction of the religious leaders reminds us that it is possible to know the rules but still miss the Messiah. You will also hear two powerful youth testimonies from Kallie and Finn. Their stories share how faith has shaped their lives through pain, doubt, surrender, and trust in Jesus. Episode 4 invites listeners to read John 5 and consider a simple but important question. Are we responding to Jesus, or are we just explaining why we cannot change? Episode 03: A Great Teacher?

Welcome back to the Solid Rock Youth Podcast. In Episode 3 of The Jesus Story, Liam and Jesse walk through one of the most famous teachings of Jesus, the Sermon on the Mount. This episode is all about what it actually means to follow Jesus, not just hearing His words, but building your life on them. Jesus challenges the way people think about sin, faith, and what it means to truly live for God. He talks about things like anger, lust, humility, prayer, and loving your enemies. The message is clear. Following Jesus is not just about rules. It is about a changed heart. Liam and Jesse also talk about the powerful story Jesus tells about two builders. One builds his life on rock. The other builds on sand. When storms come, only one foundation holds strong. The big question for all of us is simple. What are you building your life on? You will also hear two real Jesus stories from youth in the group as Isaac and Aurora share how God has been working in their lives. What You'll Hear in This Episode • A fun opening trivia question about useless talents • A recap of the first two weeks of The Jesus Story • Teaching from Matthew chapters 5 to 7, the Sermon on the Mount • What Jesus meant by building your life on the rock • Why faith is more than just hearing the Word, it is living it • Two powerful youth testimonies from Isaac and Aurora • Prayer and encouragement for the week ahead Bible Passage for This Week Matthew Chapters 5 to 7 The Sermon on the Mount Challenge yourself this week to read these chapters and think about how Jesus is calling you to build your life on Him. 5. Episode 02: Jesus' Mission

    FEB 25

    Episode 02: Jesus' Mission

Welcome back to Season 1 of the Solid Rock Youth Podcast. This episode keeps building on The Jesus Story series and honestly… it gets big fast. In Week 1, we looked at Jesus being baptized and tempted in the wilderness. Fully human. Fully God. Completely without sin. In Week 2, things level up. We move into Gospel of Luke 4:16 to 21, where Jesus walks into the synagogue, opens the scroll of Isaiah, and reads: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me…” Then He drops the mic. He declares that He is the One God promised. The Rescuer. The bringer of freedom. The One who sets captives free. Not just a good teacher. Not just a moral example. The fulfillment of Scripture. And that changes everything. Big Theme This Week Jesus is not offering advice. He is announcing rescue. He reveals His mission: Good news for the poorFreedom for captivesSight for the blindFreedom for the oppressedAnd then He says the boldest thing possible… that Scripture is fulfilled right now in their hearing. That is not a small claim. Youth Stories, Real Faith This episode also features two powerful Jesus stories from Joel and Rio. Joel shares about growing up in a Christian home, asking to be filled with the Holy Spirit at just four years old, and discovering real freedom in Christ. His story is one of learning humility, trust, and choosing Jesus again and again. Rio talks about losing things she loved, feeling alone, and slowly realizing that God was drawing her back to Himself. What felt like loss became clarity. What felt lonely became purpose. Two very different journeys. Same faithful God. As Joel shared from Second Corinthians 3:17, “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” That word shows up again. Freedom. Trivia Moment If you had to give a 30 second TED Talk right now… what would it be about? Cows? How to Train Your Dragon? Something totally random? It is a fun question… but also a reminder that we all have something we are passionate about. The real question is this… What would your 30 seconds about Jesus sound like? This Week’s Challenge Read Gospel of Luke 4:16 to 21 for yourself. Then skim through Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Watch for moments where Jesus speaks in the temple. Watch for how He reveals who He is. And pray before you read. Ask God to show you something new. Bible In Public Contest Reading your Bible in public? Snap a photo and send it to youth@nmbc.ca for a chance to win a 20 dollar McDonald’s gift card. The photo does not need to be perfect. Just real. Random draw. Simple challenge. Maybe free fries. Youth Group Reminder Grades 6 to 12 Wednesday nights 6:30 pm Main teaching, small groups, after hours… and a place to belong. Invite someone. Seriously. Everyone can benefit from hearing who Jesus is. Next week we keep building the story. Two weeks in and we have already seen: He is sinless. He is the Rescuer. That is a foundation worth standing on. See you next episode.

  6. Episode 01: My Jesus Story Begins

    FEB 16

Episode 01: My Jesus Story Begins

Season 1, The Jesus Story Welcome to episode 1 of the Solid Rock Youth Podcast with Alisha and Liam, two students from the Solid Rock Youth core team. This episode kicks off our My Jesus Story season, where youth share real testimonies about how Jesus has worked in their lives. In this episode 1... Welcome and why we started the podcast Last year at Solid Rock Youth, we did Youth Alpha in 2025. Before it started, we prayed a simple prayer, come Holy Spirit, write a story we could not tell ourselves. God answered, big time. This podcast is part of that same faith move, we are believing God will keep writing stories in our youth ministry. 2... Trivia time Question, What is one thing you believed as a kid that makes you laugh now? Alicia, If you swallow a watermelon seed, a watermelon grows in your stomach. Liam, His sister thought you could swim underneath an island. Just so we are clear, you cannot. 3... Contest alert, win a McDonald’s gift card For episode 1 and episode 2, we are running a contest. What to do Bring your Bible into a public place and take a photo showing you with it. Examples Sports game, practice, out for food, hanging out in public. Send your photo to youth@nmbc.ca Prize Random draw winner gets a 20 dollar McDonald’s gift card. Quality does not matter, silly photos are welcome. 4... Jesus story focus, Jesus is baptised and tempted Alicia and Liam talk about what Pastor Jon shared on Wednesday, Jesus being baptised, and then being tempted in the wilderness. Big idea Jesus is perfect, fully God and fully human, yet He chose baptism anyway. Why that matters He identifies with us, and shows us what it looks like to live with God as our foundation. They also talk about the Trinity moment at Jesus’ baptism, the Father speaks, the Spirit descends like a dove, and Jesus is there. Then Jesus goes into the wilderness for 40 days and is tempted, but He does not give in. He answers temptation with Scripture. 5... My Jesus Story testimonies We hear two youth testimonies in this episode. Jack’s story Jack grew up around faith but tried to handle life on his own. He shares about feeling alone, carrying heavy stuff, and how opening up in grade 10 at Challenge became a turning point. He talks about Scripture that hit him deeply, and how following Jesus is for broken people, not perfect people. Sarah’s story Sarah shares about anxiety and insecurity starting around grade 7. At Kingswood Camp, she felt a deep peace during worship and chose to make her faith her own. Later, she realized following Jesus is a real relationship, not one sided. She still has anxious moments, but she knows God is with her, and she is growing in confidence. 6... Prayer Alicia and Liam pray for Jack and Sarah, and for Solid Rock Youth as a whole, thanking God for what He is doing in the ministry. 7... This week’s challenge Read the Bible passages about Jesus’ baptism and temptation. Read Matthew 3 to 4 Mark 1 Luke 3 to 4 Try this Read it once, then read it again slower. Ask, Why did Jesus get baptised, what does that show us Ask, How did Jesus respond to temptation Bring questions to your youth leaders. 8... Reminders Send your Bible in public photo to youth@nbc.ca for the contest. Come to Solid Rock Youth on Wednesday nights, 6:30 to 8:30pm at New Minas Baptist Church, for grades 6 to 12. Quote of the episode “It’s lit.” Accurate, and also hard to argue with.
