Ep 104: Replenishing the Pritt Sticks with Joe Hullait

This week the boays are joined by Scot Squad creator and comedy commissioner at Channel 4 Joe Hullait.  Joe tracks his rise from starting out at open mics in Glasgow to becoming a high-heid yin in TV, gives advice for budding comedy writers looking to get their scripts made (and whether or not it's all about social media clout these days), and explains the origins and process behind making BBC Scotland's hit comedy Scot Squad.  Plus - Joe discusses hanging about with David Hasselhoff, explains what it was like to be on the judging panel for the Edinburgh Comedy Awards and recalls how he was sacked from Woolworths by the now current CEO of Paddy Power.

Ep 103: What Type of Clothes Horse? with Chris Kent

This week the boays are joined by Irish comedian Chris Kent.  Chris reminisces about his time living in Australia while he was starting out as a comic (while still working as an electrician and having a side-hustle in copper), discusses how much of his laid-back style is typical of the Cork sense of humour, and explains why he once had to break into his own car.  Plus, the boays ask Chris about the praise bestowed upon him by James Acaster, he recalls the sight of a shoeless heckler whilst opening for Frankie Boyle, and explains how having to temporarily go back to the building site during the pandemic turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to him.

This week Marc and Steve are joined by comedian Ashley Storrie.  Ashley chats about starring in the new BBC sitcom "Dinosaur", her experiences of writing and playing an autistic character and why it was important to portray an authentic reflection of her own experience.  They also chat about Ashley starting standup at the age of 11, her experiences of being on the road (including with a live show of Frozen), and how an early childhood encounter with Still Game's Greg Hemphill ended up coming full circle.  Plus, they chat about how her unusual upbringing affected her approach to getting an autism diagnosis, discuss Steve's "wet mouth" and Ashley recalls seeing Marc unsuccessfully shoot his shot.

Bonus: Getting Away with Swearing with Rachel Parris

Bonus: Getting Away with Swearing with Rachel Parris

Marc chats with comedian Rachel Parris ahead of her tour shows in Scotland at the beginning of May.  Star of The Mash Report (and the videos from it which went viral online), Rachel discusses becoming known for something that's not completely reflective of her stand-up, what it was like when she took over as host during the ill-fated weeks where Liz Truss became Prime Minister and the Queen died, and explains why she's not a fan of the phrase "Be Kind".  Plus, Rachel reflects on her experience of appearing on panel shows (not to mention judging a competition won by a certain Mr Buchanan), how she deals with the "teacher vibe" perception people have of her, and how she finds being in a relationship with fellow comic Marcus Brigstocke makes navigating the life of a performer more manageable.
