Talking Foodons is a rewatch podcast of "Fighting Foodons", an anime from the early aughts that did its darnedest to capitalize off the massive success of franchises like Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, and so on. It failed horribly. Join Nausicaä and Ripley as they talk about food monsters, make jokes like the Extremely Online college students they are, and get distracted from applying a level of analysis to the show which it in no way deserves.

    Nausicaä and Ripley embark on a real stay-at-home order of a podcast, by which I mean we're simultaneously tired and wired. Content warnings: some discussion of transmisogynistic rhetoric, discussion of the current atrocities the US government commits against immigrants and their children, a brief mention of a comic treating rape frivolously, and a shotgun sound effect. Corrections from last week: Thomas, the wretched impetus behind this podcast, wrote in to say that "the Wonderswan was basically a competitor to the Game Boy created by Gunpei Yokoi after he left Nintendo but before he got killed by a tragic car accident" and the source of the "ethnic references" thing was Carl Macek of the English Robotech dub.
