TCA Ep813: The Grand Daddy Of’em All!

TCA Ep813: The Grand Daddy Of’em All!

It’s WWE WrestleMania Week so we turn to our wrestling guru Sportsnet’s Kevin Michie.
Make sure you take a second to support the podcast by leaving a rating and review for the show on your pod app.
On this edition of TCA Matt and Kevin discuss wrestling gradually making it’s way back in to mainstream sports culture and how Kevin is responsible for helping to get that done on Rogers Sportsnet.
later on the guys discuss some of their favourite WrestleMania memories and some of the moments that grew the event in to what it is now.
And with this year seeing the return of fans to the event after a year of empty buildings, we look at what to expect out of WM37 and how it might follow up from last year’s empty arena presentation. Is the 2 night show better than the traditional one night deal? Which matches are set to steal the show? Is the card going to be hurt by a lack of “big names”? How did this year’s lineup come together in to something pretty special?
It’s one of the biggest week’s of the year on the sports calendar and we’re pumped to talk about the whole thing with our buddy Kevin Michie over a pint or two. Give him a follow on social media @KevinMichie and keep an eye out for his work at Sportsnet.ca.

TCA Ep810: Flipping the Bat on the Blue Jays with Andrew Stoeten

TCA Ep810: Flipping the Bat on the Blue Jays with Andrew Stoeten

We're now just one sleep away from the Opening Day of the Major League Baseball season where the Toronto Blue Jays will kick things off against the New York Yankees. We're joined by long time Jays writer Andrew Stoeten to get you set.
Please take a moment to leave a rating and a review for the podcast and make sure you're subscribed wherever you're listening today.
We kick things off with the usual beer talk with Andrew as he recommends a brewery or two local to his neck of the woods up in Peterborough. And of course we need to ask him about his career path getting started at a little operation called "Drunk Jays Fans" that grew fast and set him on his way.
Getting in to the meat of the show we take a look at the big moves the team made this off season and what may have been surprising. Later on talk turns to who exactly is going to pitch for this team and whether or not it's going to be good enough to keep them in the race. And with the big additions made to the line up should we expect this team to score pretty much at will?
Finally - a couple World Series predictions and where we think the Blue Jays will finish up.
Andrew is a terrific writer with a great sense of humour that makes his work must read. You can find his new project at TheBatFlip.ca and follow him on Twitter @AndrewStoeten.

    TCA Ep809: Sens DJ

    TCA Ep809: Sens DJ

Welcome inside an all new episode of the Tall Can Audio podcast as today we're joined by the in-house DJ for the Ottawa Senators - Alex Marchand.
Please take a moment and help out the show by leaving a rating and a review on your podcast app and make sure you're subscribed wherever your listening.
Getting Alex on the show started with an exchange on Twitter so we start things off with that topic - Matt's begrudging preference for the in-game experience at Ottawa Senators games over that of his own beloved Maple Leafs.
Our conversation also covers how Alex managed to get the gig, the extra work load that's been thrust on him and his crew at Canadian Tire Centre with the Belleville Senators moving in for the season, his philosophy behind spitting out a great playlist for the night, whether he'd rather see each player have individual goal songs or stick with the current "one team - one song" approach most teams employ, how he handles nights when the building might be half full of Leafs or Habs fans and so much more.
Alex was a terrific guest and we were thrilled he made some time for us. He's a great follow on social media for any Sens fan. Find him @SensDJ.
