Ten Years In Bed

Alison Doyle

TW: SUIC*DE IS DISCUSSED. Hello y’all! Welcome to the first ever episode of Ten Years In Bed! First order of business is the explanation behind the name of the pod ( no spoilers here, you’ll have to listen to find out hehe ). I talk about my first real experience with depression in grade 10 after I fell in love with a boy in grade 12. We dive into how depression is so much more than sadness; it’s this insane feeling of hopelessness to the point where the inability to perform any task takes over. We go over how game-changing it is to make your bed every single day. I talk about my previous clothing company / mental health work and how I’ve finally found a path that I want to continue down ( content creation ). I talk about one of my followers; Markus, and how we’ve been messaging every day and making our beds together - slay asf. I discuss the unexpected results of content creation and the Canadian healthcare system when it comes to mental health help. I talk about my 2019 psych ward visit and how it was so much different than rehab. Being mentally ill - in my experience - is to live in a constant state of disregulation, which makes it extremely hard to do anything. Sending love to all y’all who are listening! If this resonated with you, if you liked it, hated it, please let me know because I’d love some feedback :)
