Last night marked an exciting evening in downtown Vancouver as the Terminal City Club played host to a gathering featuring Kevin Falcon, the Official Opposition Leader for the BC United Party. The event drew in a diverse crowd, including real estate investors, business magnates, and members of the addy community.

Adding to the camaraderie were alumni from Vancouver College, who turned out to hear from one of their own, Kevin Falcon, who is also a graduate of the school.

Kevin Falcon and addy Co-Founder Stephen Jagger took the stage for a fireside chat where Kevin shared his vision for the province. He delved into critiques of the current government’s performance, offered insights into the latest poll results, and provided updates on the party’s name change initiative. Additionally, he shared his perspectives on the BC Conservative party, sparking a wide-ranging conversation that engaged attendees.

The evening wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of Wilson Beck Insurance, whose sponsorship helped make the event a resounding success.

From thought-provoking discussions to networking opportunities, the gathering provided attendees with a unique insight into the political landscape of British Columbia, courtesy of one of its prominent figures, Kevin Falcon. The District of Lake Country’s Mayor Blair Ireland sat down with addy co-founder Stephen Jagger to talk about district. During our conversation, Mayor Blair Ireland provided insights into his background, particularly his association with Big White Ski Resort. The discussion then delved into various aspects of Lake Country, including Winfield, Okanagan Centre, Oyama, and Carr’s Landing, as well as the implementation of the ward system. Community policing and its associated costs were explored, along with considerations for expanding the tax base by growing the population or attracting businesses. The Lake Country Business Park and its role in the community were highlighted, along with the impact of UBCO on the region. The conversation touched upon housing regulation changes at both provincial and municipal levels, anticipation for a large new housing development, and the future of Lakewood Mall, emphasizing residential growth and increased density. Collaboration with Kelowna, water management, and wildfire prevention strategies were also addressed. Mayor Ireland expressed his goals for the term, including expediting permit processes, and the discussion concluded with plans for a new First Nations Cultural Centre. Overall, the conversation provided a comprehensive overview of Mayor Blair Ireland’s priorities and the key issues facing Lake Country.

Biography: Ravi Kahlon
Ravi Kahlon was first elected as a member of the legislative assembly (MLA) for Delta North in May 2017 and was named British Columbia’s minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation in November 2020.

He previously served as the parliamentary secretary for Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, where he Event Sponsorship (TD) 2 championed the use of mass timber and innovation in B.C.’s forest sector.

As parliamentary secretary for Sport and Multiculturalism, he helped restore the BC Human Rights Commission and traveled the province to build an anti-racism strategy.

As minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation, Ravi’s first priority was to support families and communities through the pandemic and he worked closely with business, workers, First Nations and communities to develop and deliver on a strategy for long-term sustainability, jobs and growth.

Ravi’s love for sports and athletic competition has also shaped his outlook. When he was seven years old, his father introduced him to field hockey. A two-time Olympian, Ravi played field hockey for Team Canada at the 2000 and 2008 Olympics.
