In this podiobook: "The Best Laid Plans" is a satirical novel of Canadian politics written by Terry Fallis. It recounts the unlikely and amusing alliance between a 30-something burnt out, jaded political staffer, and an older, cantankerous, engineering professor. Driven by a federal election and the life of the resulting minority conservative government, the novel moves between the small town of Cumberland, Ontario on the shores of the Ottawa River, and the nation's capital. While the characters and their exploits are often comical, serious ideas on politics and democracy underlie the fun. For more information on the novel and author, visit www.terryfallis.com.

entertaining and funny listen

Don't worry if you don't like politics. There are hilarious characters with a capital CH in here. Eccentric, colourful, and complete. The story has history, Canadian culture, setting, 2 love stories, and at least three story lines interwoven. I ignored most of the political thread and still loved the story. Some of the politics was soft and colourful enough that I did pay attention and even remember some.

I laughed out loud in public.

When the last chapter played, I quickly downloaded his other 2 books: The High Road, and Up and Down. Terry Fallis is my #1 recommendation this summer - and xmas shopping is going to be easy: everyone gets a Fallis, this year.

PS The quality of the reading and production is great.

Book lover!

We chose this book during our book club meeting at my job. When I first heard what book we were going to read I was a bit down since a book abouy politics is not the first choice I would have made. After reading this book continually for the past week and listening to it on iTunes during work time (shhhh) I absolutely love the wittiness of it and have to try not to laugh whole at work. Can't wait to read/listen to the next one

A must read (listen)

After this book was chosen as a CBC Canada Reads book, I couldn't wait to read it. I'm not only enjoying the audiobook format, but I'm sure I get a lot of stares at the gym and on the street at my sudden outbursts of laughter. Besides being an outstanding author, Terry Fallis is an excellent narrator and I love listening to a book narrated by the author himself. Thank you for making your book available on iTunes - I look forward to a new chapter every day !
