The Deck

For years, some law enforcement agencies have replaced the faces of traditional playing card decks with images of missing and murdered people and distributed those cards in prisons hoping inmates would come forward with information needed to crack these cold cases wide open. Now, audiochuck is dealing you in. Each week, we will be working with investigators and family members to bring you the details of some of the coldest cases from around the country in hopes that someone listening can finally bring these victims the justice they deserve.

Anita Carlson (10 of Spades, Minnesota)

Our card this week is Anita Carlson, the 10 of Spades from Minnesota.  In late June 1987, the town of Bemidji, Minnesota, was gearing up for Independence Day weekend. Celebrations quickly turned to panic when Anita Carlson, a college graduate with hopes of working in TV production, went missing from her nighttime job at Pete’s Place, a convenience store at the intersection of Highways 2 and 89.  By the end of the weekend, Anita had been found dead. Nearly 40 years later, investigators are still trying to figure out what happened that night.  Anyone with information about the death of Anita Carlson should call Crime Stoppers of Minnesota: 800-222-8477, or the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension tip line is 1-877-996-6222.   View source material and photos for this episode at: thedeckpodcast.com/anita-carlson Let us deal you in… follow The Deck on social media. Rosa McMillan (9 of Hearts, North Carolina)

Our card this week is Rosa McMillan, the 9 of Hearts from North Carolina.  On August 6, 1989, Rosa McMillian was found murdered inside that home. She had been brutally attacked—and sexually assaulted—in her own living room. The crime scene didn't make sense, and a few mysterious items were left behind by whoever killed Rosa. Something else left behind? The killer's DNA. In most cases, that would be enough to close the books. But in Rosa’s case…DNA isn’t what brought answers. In fact, it’s the opposite…and the one thing that would keep a solve out of reach. If you know anything about the murder of Rosa McMillan in Fayetteville, North Carolina, please call the  Fayetteville Police Department at 910-433-1529. You can also call Fayetteville Cumberland County Crime Stoppers Tips at 910-483-8477.   View source material and photos for this episode at: thedeckpodcast.com/rosa-mcmillan Let us deal you in… follow The Deck on social media. Clarence and Marjorie Paulson (2 of Clubs, Minnesota)

In July 1984, Clarence and Marjorie Paulson, father and daughter, were reported missing from their home in Minnesota. At first glance, sheriff’s deputies didn’t see any obvious signs of a struggle. Marjorie and Clarence didn’t have driver’s licenses, and the three-wheeler Clarence used to travel was still at his house. Marjorie’s purse and knitting needles were left behind. Neighbors didn’t offer much of an explanation about where they’d gone – the two were considered reclusive, but known to travel into town every so often.  But a closer examination of the home revealed more to the story. And six years after reported missing, detectives found the unthinkable.  Anyone with information about the death of Marjorie and Paulson should call Crime Stoppers of Minnesota: 800-222-8477, or the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension tip line is 1-877-996-6222.    View source material and photos for this episode at: thedeckpodcast.com/clarence-and-marjorie-paulson Let us deal you in… follow The Deck on social media. Edwin “Eddie” Heath Sr. (King of Hearts, Delaware)

Our card this week is Edwin “Eddie” Heath Sr., the King of Hearts from Delaware. For the last eleven years, the mystery of who murdered 33-year-old Eddie has haunted the New Castle County Police. It looked to them like Eddie had been targeted – shot just steps from where he lived and in front of his children. But a few BIG questions remain: Who was the man, possibly in disguise, that shot Eddie that day? And was this the same man caught on a surveillance camera near the scene? And WHY would anyone want this otherwise normal-seeming dad dead?   If you have any information about the murder of Edwin “Eddie” Heath Sr., or if you lived in or near the Fox Run Apartments and Townhomes community in May of 2015 and saw something, please get in touch with the New Castle County Police Department at: 302-573-2800. You can also submit a tip anonymously by calling the local Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or visiting their website at www.Delaware.crimestoppersweb.com.    View source material and photos for this episode at:  Let us deal you in… follow The Deck on social media.
