Every episode is a musical dispatch from myself to you, featuring dusty vintage cuts that sit alongside new discoveries and so much more. Hello, it’s me again. I’m back with a particularly disparate batch of songs for you this week. Since it’s almost Halloween, I had to sneak something a little seasonal in there for you, but I also play some hip-hop, experimental electronic/lo-fi, and the usual assortment of punk and post-punk adjacent tunes. I’d love to know what you think of the show, and what else you’d like to hear on here. More dusty gems? More new music? Hit me up on Twitter. For now, a couple notes: * I mentioned my Halloween playlist on the show. Did you know you can find it here, under “Themed” playlists? There’s a whole lot more where that came from too! Check out the database. * Thanks again to Repeating Cloud for sending a recommendation through, and don’t forget to check out Citrus City Records. Enjoy! Today’s Track List: * Nicole Campau - New Fashion * Use No Hooks - The Hook * Wicketkeeper - I Can’t Believe * Muzak - Ilha Urbana * Gen Pop - Me Alive * Boogiemonsters - Recognized Thresholds of Negative Stress * Militant Minister - Killer Endstinct * Dean Rorer - Jack-O-Lantern * China Club - Ka-Kui * Sojourn Suspect - Real Allies That’s it, that’s all. Every episode is a musical dispatch from myself to you, featuring dusty vintage cuts that sit alongside new discoveries and so much more. I’m back with another batch of songs for you, new and old, dusty and clean. My kidney’s are back with more stone-based fun as well, but I’m not letting them get in the way of putting out one of these a week - for now, anyway. Who knows what the future holds. Some quick notes about today’s episode: * The Cloverbottom song was found via a great YouTube channel called “Obscure 45s” that you should certainly check out and subscribe to if you like… well… obscure 45s. * I first heard the Harumi song featured today on a channel called DoguraMaguraTunes which seems to upload lots of interesting stuff. * Finally, pingu87 is the account where I first came across the Rexy track that opens today’s episode. Enjoy! Today’s Track List: * Rexy - Perfect Day * The Goodbye Party - Unlucky Stars * Sarchasm - Song to Wash Your Hands To * Bam Bamm - Waiting by the Phone * The Times - Red with Purple Flashes * Cloverbottom - Battery * Harumi - Hurry Up Now * Chika Asamoto - Self Control * Slow Pulp - Idaho That’s it, that’s all. Every episode is a musical dispatch from myself to you, featuring dusty vintage cuts that sit alongside new discoveries and so much more. The fall air has rolled in and I’m excitedly unpacking all my sweatshirts and warm layers out of the closet these days. Unfortunately I can’t do some of my favourite things like head to haunted houses or amusement parks, but I’ll take satisfaction in what I can right now. While I wait for the cold weather to hit (and brace for the impact of another spike in infection rates here in Ontario) I’m holed up in my home office with a microphone to introduce some more songs for you. As always, here’s the track list. Let me know what you think on Twitter; any and all feedback is appreciated! Today’s Track List: * Suzy Siquenza ‎– Someone Else * Guardian Singles ‎– Being Alone * Image ‎– Witchcraft 71 * Mouth ‎– Ooh, Ah, Yeah! * Portray Heads ‎– 夢を夢に (Demo) * Dogs in Ecstasy ‎– Loyalty * Math the Band ‎– That Thing You Don't * Party Dozen ‎– Gun Control * Lifeguard ‎– Dive * Silver Leaf ‎– Can We Rebuild Our City? Dispatch No. 03

Welcome to The Discover Tab Dispatch, an audio-experiment from yours truly. Every episode is a musical dispatch from myself to you, featuring dusty vintage cuts that sit alongside new discoveries and so much more.  After a week off - thanks kidney stones! - I’m back with a slightly shorter episode for y’all, but an episode nonetheless. As I mention today, this is a bit of an all-over-the-place collection, but it’s my hope there’s something for everyone in here. Sometimes I wonder if I should tighten the show up with “themes” or keep it loose and freeform when it comes to what I select. It’s pretty seat-of-pants already, so I tend to embrace that kind of thing. As I state every week, I would love love love to hear your thoughts, opinions and recommendations, so please reach out either in the comments section below or through Twitter. Show Notes: * I got kicked off Spotify! * Not exactly the surprise of the century, but since this little project includes full songs I was removed from their podcast database. Probably because I led last week’s dispatch with an INXS joint, haha. Oh well! You can still find me on a number of platforms, so search in your Pocket Casts, your Google Podcasts, et al. * Today’s dispatch features a couple songs from Bruton Music and some mentions of library music. * If you’re not aware, library music is created with the specific intent to be owned by a company and lent to creatives for many reasons - they need music for television or film, background audio for radio, etc. * Often times the musicians creating these works could be imitating a popular style of music, or reaching out into the unknown with electronic mood-setting pieces. A lot of this stuff ultimately ended up as sample-fodder for crate-digging producers, but much of it is just delightful to listen to any time. * There’s a good primer about the world of library music by Pitchfork, and you can find some great compilation videos (organized by label) on the 11db11 YouTube channel. * I’ve also got a “KPM 1000 & Other Library Favourites” playlist too, so check that out. * Later in the episode I mention Don Giovanni Records’ response to the recently released Pitchfork essay “What It’s Like to Be Black in Indie Music.” Definitely take some time to read both the article, and in the Don Giovanni Records twitter thread. Today’s Track List: * Geoff Bastow - Communique * Flue - Fancy Free * Koshi Miharu - Scandal Night * New Bloods - Oh, Deadly Nightshade! * Square Up - Expect Resistance * James Harpham - Aquarium * James Asher - Umbrellas * 700 Bliss - Ring The Alarm * Circus Trees - Wicked That’s it, that’s all. Dispatch No. 02

Welcome to episode two of The Discover Tab Dispatch, an audio-experiment from yours truly. Every episode is a musical dispatch from myself to you, featuring dusty vintage cuts that sit alongside new discoveries and so much more.  This week on the show, I continue to not have much of a theme but did bring up some notable things that will require links. I’ve included them below, as well as a quick overview of what came up on today’s episode! As always, I would love love love to hear your thoughts, opinions and recommendations, so please reach out either in the comments section below or through Twitter. Show Notes: * INXS: My good friend Greg LeGros created a “power hour” playlist for me after I alerted him to my inability to wrap my head around them as a band having only heard a grab-bag of their singles, really. It helped me understand their trajectory, alerted me to some songs by them I hadn’t heard but really dig now, but also reinforced my thoughts on their hit-record Kick, heh. * As I mention on the show, Greg has 80+ “Isolation Radio” playlists and you should do yourself a favor by checking them out through this link. * A few cuts from this month’s episode were found on YouTube thanks to the very cool channel by the name of J Sanders. * They’re a pretty active account posting dusty vinyl cuts spanning the funk, jazz, country, soul genres and more. Check it out! Today’s Track List: * INXS - On A Bus * Steve & Nettie - Love Is All Around * The Cat’s Meow - Maybe You Can Fly * Datenight US - I Hate This Game * The Work - I Hate America * Bitpart - The End * Ghost Work - Go Stat * US III - I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know * Reverse - Greed * Fever Blush - Brick * Noera - Liver That’s it, that’s all. Be excellent to one other. * Follow The Discover Tab on Twitter. * Check out my Buy Music Club lists. * View my Spotify playlist database here. * Subscribe on: Spotify, Pocket Casts, and iTunes.
