Gwyneth Paltrow x Michael Pollan: On Drugs

“All societies have drugs that they’re okay with and they draw these lines and they draw them in ways that can seem very arbitrary,” says Michael Pollan, New York Times–bestselling author of This Is Your Mind on Your Plants and host of the new Netflix series, How to Change Your Mind. GP interviewed Pollan about the relationship between humans and plants and how he initially became interested in psychoactive plants as an avid gardener. They talk about the value of caffeine, what surprised Pollan while studying opium, what was unearthed for him during a powerful psilocybin experience, and why he believes MDMA is useful for couple's therapy.

Gwyneth Paltrow x Jane McGonigal: How to Think Like a Futurist

Gwyneth Paltrow x Jane McGonigal: How to Think Like a Futurist

“The reason that I get so excited about future thinking and helping people play with future scenarios is that those are the habits that keep our mind unstuck,” says future forecaster, game designer, and author Jane McGonigal. In her book, Imaginable: How to See the Future Coming and Feel Ready for Anything, McGonigal shares tools—and games—for envisioning the future before it arrives. She and GP talk about the signals that shape change (and how to spot them yourself) and why video games have the potential to help us heal. Toward the end, McGonigal shares what gives her hope for the future and her predictions on what we should be paying attention to in the next ten years.

The Key to Unlocking Creative Thinking

The Key to Unlocking Creative Thinking

Erica Chidi is joined by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Matt Richtel, author of Inspired: Understanding Creativity—A Journey through Art, Science, and the Soul. They talk about where creativity comes from, how to harness it, and why the creative process is often embedded with fear. Richtel explains that the fear begins early—around the fourth grade—when kids start internalizing what society deems as right and wrong. They close by discussing the value of mind-wandering and why creativity matters. “It is nature’s way of encouraging us to break through the status quo,” says Richtel.

Great Pod

I keep coming back to Goop because there’s no other pod like it.

It’s educational, interesting and keeps choosing topics that are relevant. Their audio production is simple, no crazy SFX but still manages to deliver information that’s on point without being boring.

The goop universe: their Netflix shows, their blog, their post, it all works together effortlessly

Elise does a fantastic job.

My only feedback is to the sound engineer: go out of your comfort zone and elevate the audio experience in 2022. All of us listeners will be thrilled!

Miss the old goop…

I do agree with other reviews that the podcast isn’t the same since Elise left. The audio quality is poor and I find the content is lacking in many episodes. Used to really grab my attention and pull me in… now I rarely finish. The latest epi with Kourtney Kardashian was almost unlistenable with the amount of times she said “like”. Could use some editing. I miss the old content!

Really miss Elise!

I love this podcast and it’s topics but unfortunately I can only listen to Gwyneth now. Elise and her style is sorely missed! Hopefully she can come back at some point.
