    Top Photographers Influencing My Work: Aspiration Vs. Inspiration

    Today I reveal five photographers who have influenced my work the most over the years, photographers I return to time and time again for inspiration.  These are William Eggleston, Tierney Gearon, Gregory Crewdson, Nan Goldin, and Dianna Cuaulte.  Each informs my work in different ways.  They teach me to capture what is around me for both the mundane and those I love, to find depth through the stories our subjects reveal, and to not overthink the work.     The Power of Deep Connection and How We Lost It

    Connection Full Circle: Today, I share a recent discussion I had with a friend over coffee.  In our conversation, we discussed the importance of connection and considered how, as a whole, we have become more isolated as individuals.  It became apparent how current political events, social media, and even Ai, have all led to deep isolation and disconnection, even when social media has promised more.  At the end of today's episode, I share several ways I am shifting my approach in an effort to strengthen my social circle, especially with the use of art as a form of self-expression and togetherness.     Tangibility and the Impact on Happiness

    Disengage With Your Screen: Today, we spend the majority of our time engaging with our screens and online content, rather than creating.  I remember a time when it was the exact opposite.  I review my own experience as someone consumed by tech and screen time.  I also am learning that I am remarkably happier the more I engage in tangible activities in my day-to-day.  I believe that a happy life is one spent creating what you can hold in your hands, sitting with others in communion, and feeling the earth beneath your feet.     Addiction and the Affected Other: Discovering Your Limit

    Can You Love Them Enough? In today's episode, I share my thoughts on the challenges facing the, "Affected Other", and the process of finding personal limits.  We slowly grow to believe that if we love the addicted partner, child, sibling, or friend enough, they will choose sobriety.  However, over time, we come to realize that no matter the risks, the addicted person can only change if they are willing to take charge of their own journey.  This episode is dedicated to supporting the affected others out there, as they struggle to find their own value and define their own journey, as persons invested in living a full and happy life.     My Rant: In today's episode, I share my feelings about the complicated relationship I have with social media and tech.  Over the past several months, after taking significant breaks from social media, I have come to realize the negative impact it has on my life.   I have also come to understand that the gamification so deeply imbedded in all aspects of social media, is also massively present in the technology that we use every day.  Stepping back far enough, you start to see how gamification is shaping society in a very negative way.  I share ideas about how to gain control, ideas that will be absolutely unpopular. There is no doubt that the recovery journey starts well before the individual indicates readiness. Grabbing that, 'golden moment' when someone expresses desire requires a low barrier and nimble system, adept at responding to individual needs quickly. Tamara Randall's Recovery Journey: Tam shares her own story of recovery and what her rock bottom looked like more than ten years ago.
