The theological viewpoints are a bit whack. Listeners should not try and overhaul their entire church based off what these guys on a podcast say (it’s happened at our church which is what led me to give this show a listen).
Overall though, this podcast is just incredibly entertaining. The “you are gay” clips inserted make me laugh every time. I send those to my husband, he has a similar sense of humor; It’s great.
As a woman I’m obviously not the target audience but man alive, these guys are funny. They often reference my 3 favorite fictional authors: Tolkien, Lewis, and Austen. Which men who love Jane Austen? Chef’s kiss.
If you enjoy the friendships & banters of the LOTR’s characters, you’ll probably enjoy this. Brian Sauve is like a mix of Gandalf and Legolas with splashes of pippin. Dan is just a modern day Boromir with Bilbo Baggins energy. And Eric Conn is obviously Gimli. I bet Eric is short in real life like Gimli too. Just hilarious even when he’s trying to be serious.
If you just need a laugh & someone to address elephants in the cultural room, these guys offer that.
Obviously this podcast should NOT be your source for theological teaching. John MacArthur’s “Grace to you”‘podcast is where you go for that folks.
But overall this podcast is witty, funny, and even thought-provoking. 4 stars instead of 5 because their theological takes are incredibly niche. Their views on singleness are weird given the apostle Paul. I know they’re trying to raise up a standard where Christians pursue marriage and family, but it likely lays a burden on listeners who are weaker in their Biblical & theological understanding.
Brian as a teaching pastor I can see, he’s got some Gandalf in there. Dan seems like a solid blue collar elder. But it’s concerning Eric (aka Gimli) is a Spiritual and theological advisor.
Gandalf? Yes. Boromir? Sure. But Gimli? Come on guys.
