Musician, podcaster, and former MAD Magazine editor Allie Goertz joins Vespe and Wampler to talk about The Simpsons' Shining parody as well as her upcoming album of NIN covers. Wampler in particular has a lot to say on this subject.

Goertz began her musical career under the now unfortunate name of "Cossbysweater" and has since done work with Mad Magazine, Mystery Science Theater 3000 and even ran her own Simpsons podcast with Julia Prescott called Everything's Coming Up Simpsons, so naturally she's a perfect fit for this particular episode.

The legendary Ashley Johnson (the OG Ellie from The Last of Us) joins the Kingcast boys to discuss all things Lawnmower Man, from the original King short story that bears damn near no resemblance to the feature film to secret tween crushes on shirtless Jeff Fahey, how to correctly pronounce Jobe, and maybe even Wampler's detailed notes after his first sober viewing of this fine feature film. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, 2/3rds of the filmmaking team known as Radio Silence, take a victory lap after the release of their brand new Scream VI to join Wampler and Vespe and discuss the 1987 camp classic The Running Man. The movie bears little resemblance to the King/Bachman story, granted, but it turns out this goofy action comedy was oddly prophetic about the state of world politics and entertainment. It also influenced the filmmaking team in ways you may not expect. From the art of the one-liner to breaking down some of the differences between the source material and the movie, this conversation will keep you almost as entertained as Dynamo's opera skills.

Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the writing duo behind A Quiet Place and the writer/directors of the upcoming Adam-Driver-Shooting-Dinosaurs-With-A-Machine-Gun genre epic titled 65 join The Kingcast boys to take a deep dive into Stephen King's On Writing.

Naturally this serves as a jumping off point for a discussion about the power of storytelling and the blood, sweat and tears that goes into creative writing. Beck and Woods discuss the lessons they've learned from reading King, how true the concept of an idea pool that we're all fishing from is, and, of course, a tangent into the wonders of The Cheesecake Factory with it's surprisingly good food and phone book sized menu. Comedian, Cocaine Bear star, and social media heavy hitter Scott Seiss joins in on the Cornboy fun with Team Kingcast for a particularly rowdy episode as the group examines the fifth (yes, fifth) entry into the Children of the Corn series. The discussion foolishly looks for logic where there is none to be found and has a damn good time doing it.

Joining Team Kingcast today is film director Chris Landon (Freaky, Happy Death Day) who's here to talk a bit about his new movie, the Amblin-esque We Have a Ghost starring David Harbour and Anthony Mackie as well as a deep dive into King's massive tome. The boys investigate how important 11.22.63 was to kicking off a new renaissance of King, how iffy the Hulu adaptation was, the dangerous game of fixing past wrongs and altering the timeline and how tempting it would be to do that even knowing you could screw everything up.
