As someone who has listened to this podcast for 9 years or so, I can say that this sentiment has not changed. My gaming tastes, playing habits, and platforms of preference have evolved, and yet this podcast still remains an important part of my listening habits.
The three co-hosts, Sean, Jon, and Paul, each bring a unique gaming background with a variety of games that they talk about each week. You can always count on hearing their opinions on the latest and greatest, a retro classic, and hidden gems. They're brutally honest too; if they don't like their time with a game they'll articulate why, or debate their opinions with the other cohosts if they've played games in common. They've been together long enough where they know each other's predispositions and tendencies towards genres, mechanics, and other gameplay elements and it shows in their conversations. The only minor complaint I have is that they don't get into plot spoilers, reserving those for infrequent spoilercasts if multiple of the hosts have played the game. Some people who use these discussions as jumping off points for playing the game prefer no spoilers, but for me it feels like their delivery of their gaming opinion is incomplete.
Each episode follows a typical format you see on many gaming podcasts. They start with what they've been doing in general at the top of the show, then followed by what they've been playing, some gaming news, and finally user-submitted questions. They have generally interesting (albeit short) conversations about their lives or what non-gaming media they've consumed, the solid game discussion previously mentioned, a good pull of news with fairly solid insight into most (but not all) of the topics, and then the questions. The TDP community has developed the questions they ask into a mix of legitimate gaming analysis questions and outlandish scenario proposals for the hosts to decipher and answer.
Overall, it's a great listen to both people who play games and people who enjoy listening to gaming discussions. It's nothing innovative or groundbreaking but it's a tried and true formula that makes for a good time each and every week.
