Vegan Week

Enough of the Falafel

Weekly vegan news show, with headlines, commentary & discussion. Enough of the Falafel is a community of people who love keeping on top of the latest news in the world of veganism & animal rights. But there's one problem: We've had enough of all the "falafel" out there! Each week we release two different shows, hosted by a different combination of everyday vegans. No celebrities; no influencers; just normal vegan people from across the world! With the 'Vegan Week' podcast, we aim to keep listeners (& ourselves) informed & up-to-date with the latest developments that affect vegans & non-human animals; giving insight, whilst staying balanced; remaining true to our vegan ethics, whilst constantly seeking to grow & develop. A few days later we release another weekly show: 'Vegan Talk'. Here we'll pick a topic affecting vegans, or the animal rights movement & go into a bit more detail, whether it be through philosophical musings, weighing up different viewpoints, or simply sharing our own experiences.  If you spot any news stories that might catch our fancy, or have an idea for a discussion topic, get in touch via enoughofthefalafel@gmail.com.  Thanks everyone for listening; drop us a message to say "hi"; it'll make our day! Much love, from Ant, Julie, Mark, Dominic, Kate, Paul, Carlos, Luke, Rich, Tom, Alex & everyone else at the Enough of the Falafel collective!

291- Imagine a world without cows...

And now vegans, imagine a company deeply invested in the exploitation of cows creating short films about that subject. Chances are, you've just imagined Alltech Inc's creation: The 'World Without Cows' series. Dear friends and regular contributors Shane, Kate & Mark subjected themselves to the Ireland and Brazil episodes of the series and share their thoughts in this episode. 290- Do kebab-eaters care what 'meat' is in their mouth?

"I'm only interested in 100% lamb meat in my kebab". Has this phrase ever been uttered? Do people care if it's lamb meat, eyelid...or even goat? One story from the news this week has got David, Dominic & Mark discussing just this. But that's not all they cover, in this week's round-up of ten animal rights & vegan headlines from around the world. Like what we do? Want to help it sound even better? Join our KoFi gang here: https://ko-fi.com/ENOUGHOFTHEFALAFEL Thanks to Neil, Shane & Alex for their continued Ko-Fi support! Are off-gridders finding the epitome of sustainable living? Highlighting people's speciesism? Or just missing the point?  In this week's show, Shane & Anthony are joined for the first time by the brilliant Svenne to discuss this story, along with several others from the last seven days of animal rights & vegan news. 286- Vegans vs YouTube

Who knew Anthony would get so angry about youtube?! Last week marked the first ever international summit to discuss ways to combat the online abuse of animals. Really important stuff was discussed, all to help improve outcomes for animals...but apparently Anthony isn't satisfied. Hear him rant here! In addition, Shane & Mark discuss several other news stories amongst the animal rights & vegan headlines from the last seven days. Thanks Kate for compiling this week's show content. Like what we do? 285- Ahimsa Milk: Could we use milk in an ethical way?

Ahimsa milk is a type of "slaughter-free" dairy produced using the ancient principle of Ahimsa (meaning "non-violence"). The Ahimsa Dairy Foundation in the UK guarantee that no cows, calves, or bulls are ever killed for meat, sold into the conventional beef industry, or slaughtered when they stop producing milk, when these principles are followed...but what do two vegans think about 'ahimsa milk'? Carlos & Ant examine the practice from a variety of angles. Mentioned in the discussion are: https://viva.org.uk/blog/ahimsa-milk/ https://www.ahimsamilk.org/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EB946c2Z4BI As ever, we love hearing your views on the topics under discussion (or  anything else!) so do drop us your thoughts via enoughofthefalafel@gmail.com ************* Enough  of the Falafel is a community of people who love keeping on top of the  latest news in the world of veganism & animal rights. 284- The kids wanna go meat-free!

The University of Exeter has found that around half of 18-26 year olds considered ditching meat during their childhood, with the main reason being their disgust at learning about where it comes from. So is the future vegan? Or is it all just talk? This week David, Kate & Dominic discuss this news story as well as several others amongs the animal rights & vegan headlines from the last seven days.
